Best & cheapest way to insure second car?

My husband and I currently share a car. It's insured in my name, and I have 9 years NCD. We now need a second car, but the quote from our current insurer is prohibitively expensive! They don't do a special second car type plan though. What's the best way to do insure two cars??

When I got myself a second car, Adrian Flux "mirrored" my NCB on the second car.
Main driver might be an issue in your situation, as I'm guessing that will be your husband, but it might be worth a call.

Currently the best price is separate policies, one in my husband's name with zero NCD.

If he's already insured on the present car amend the policy to put him as main driver and put your details in a comparison site like moneysupermarket .com, compare the market.com etc and compare quotes including him as a second driver.

You'd still be insuring a second car with 0 NCB doing this though.
