Hotel had payment twice

Apologies if this is in the incorrect section

Have just returned from the USA. We booked a hotel through hotels.com. Paid for in advance.
However on our return, the owner has taken the payment from our credit card.. I did have a conversation with him on checkout, and he insisted we had not paid. Anyway hotels.com have provided evidence that we had paid and he now has to refund the amount back to us. Nothing has appeared yet. Do we need to contact credit card company if no joy?
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

Yes, there do seem occasions where records don't match.

We stayed in a 5 star hotel in Bangkok a few years ago, my wife booked thorough her work account but mo payment was taken. On checking out we went to pay, but they insisted that all was paid, we argued the point but they refused to budge.

Must have just been a computer error as our cards were never charged, didn't report that to the credit card comoany though!

Hotels.com should also be helping with this, have you lodged a complaint with them? They should push the hotel to refund your card.

This does ocassionally happen but in most cases the hotel will refund you with no problem.

Contact your credit card company as they can do a charge back to the hotel
