The online POPLA appeals form

Options
Hello,

I haven't seen any mention of the POPLA online form on the forum yet, so thought I would make a specific post to question it....

So, after spending days writing an appeal to send to POPLA, I am now faced with an online POPLA form with multiple choice questions, which is 'feeling' very restricted and not exactly relevant to my points so far.

Have I missed something here?

Am I meant to send my letter through the post instead, or is there a section at the end of this form to paste my letter after a bit of a goose chase of various options on the way?

Its just that, if you select 'other reasons', it says you are less likely to win your case.... but perhaps thats just more scaremongering.

First of all, I suggest you post your draft appeal here before submitting it.

Ignore the bit other reasons. It is biased towards parking companies and funded by them, so they would tell you that you are less likely to win. They are wrong.

Send the appeal as an attachment if it exceeds the character limit (which it should if you have done it properly.)

    Thanks Fruitcake,

Iv gone through a draft elsewhere on the forum (Coupon mad has been helping) which should be ok to go now.
So I assume that there is somewhere to attach the letter at the end of the questionaire.

Don't do that. Just DON'T! People who do that almost always say POPLA lost it. NO.

Come on, the NEWBIES FAQS thread tells you about POPLA in post #3, so does the Parking Prankster if you read his blog on POPLA's website.

You merely attach your PDF appeal under 'other' which is what the sticky thread here tells you. You click to upload your PDF as a little packet icon.

....righto you caught me before I posted it.

Iv read the #3 in NEWBIES, where I cannot see mention of the 'other' option.

So Iv been told to ignore 'other', and then to put a PDF under 'other' ?

Forgive me if I sound like Im as thick as two short planks, but Im going to have to ask:
    1. Select 'I was not improperly parked' > add my appeal letter PDF under evidence?
    2. Select 'I was not the driver...' then 'other' > add my appeal letter PDF under evidence?
    3. Select 'other' > add my appeal letter PDF?
    - do all three, or just one?

Use #3 'Other' and add your appeal as a PDF.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I did as you said - just wrote 'please see attached letter' in every evidence/reason box, and attached same letter to each upload button.

Recieved an email through POPLA today to say that my appeal was successful, thankyou for all your help!

    An exaggeration surely?

No, not based on posts here but there were only very few people who have posted that they mailed a POPLA appeal anyway. I can only think of a couple in fact and it was fairly disastrous. In both cases it caused them problems and POPLA lost the paperwork in one case and the person could not prove they sent it.

If you step outside the online POPLA process it doesn't work well. We know POPLA are not great at making sure Assessors see all the evidence at the best of times and their admin is shoddy IMHO.

I can just picture the piles of paperwork in that office, can't you?! :)
