Good Morning chums, bright and dry here at least I have a hairdressing appointment this morning then history in the afternoon so thats my day sorted.Had a lovely evening at DDs last night the boys were great and we spent a good deal of time nattering about my late Oh . One of the boys Henry had discovered a match that is due to be on in Wembley in September. The boys couldn't get tickets to see their beloved Liverpool but apparently this is the EE Wembley cup whatever that is and they pleaded with their dad to go.The tickets were originally £15.00 a pop but if you were an EE customers you could get them for £10.00 Well my mobile is with EE so I have treated the boys to a trip to Wembley as they have never been and my son-in-law four boys and myself are off to see a footie match on 2nd September the week after our holiday finishes .The boys are all thrilled to bits, me, perhaps not so much, as I can take it or leave it but they were so keen to go,and its a treat for them to go somewhere like that.

My DD couldn't go as she is working on the Friday and Saturday and we won't get back until after midnight. Its a long journey from darkest Kent to Wembley :):):) So I am now guaranteed untold cups of tea from DGS Henry when ever I want :):):) Four very happy young men last night ,even though we had to ring DGS Ben in Norwich to see if he wanted to go as he was working up there until the end of this month.Should be an interesting night, one daft old Grandma with five chaps in tow :):):)

One of those horrible flying bug things bit my finger when I was getting the washing in yesterday and its very red and swollen at the moment Darned thing was on a peg and as I unpegged it, I felt like a needle had pricked my finger Blooming sore at the moment and itchy as well.

Dreadful things happening in Nice ,what is the world coming to I wonder people out celebrating a night out with their children and that happens. So sad for them all.

I have been trying to avoid looking at the latest news from Nice as the toll just keeps rising.

Builders are finishing off levelling the back garden and work on upstairs doors and odds and ends in the kitchen. Cool and grey day and need to make a huge lasagne for tonight as youngest comes home. Mince is defrosting and I need to clear up the kitchen once builders leave and make up a bed upstairs nicely.

I was browsing bed and mattress sales online as dds have been complaining that one of the double beds upstairs was uncomfortable and giving them backache. I found a site with 60% off a 1500 pocket spring double mattress with memory foam topping and as it was £159 instead of £395 with free delivery and the sale only lasted for a day I decided to take the chance and ordered it.

Hoping to sort out a few more boxes of books and put those I want to keep in the new bookshelves.

See you all later and hugs to all.

Hello everyone, what shocking news to wake to. So very sad.

I am still in my scruffiest pjs, I wanted to clean the oven and prefer to get them messy rather than actual clothes. I'll get dressed now and clean the windows.

    Hope everyone is ok.

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

I am so shocked about the killings in France.

France has been our country of choice for holidays for many years, at one time we had hoped to live there but it never worked out. I am so sad for the people who have lost friends and family.

    Afternoon all

Not much to report here, had a very busy day yesterday. I was out for 11 hours! We had hospital appt for baby, then lunch with OH, then I had acupuncture appt, then I had my hair done (took 3hours for colour and cut!) and then just as I thought I was on my way home OH rung to say his mum wanted to take us for all for dinner so we went out for food with her and OH's kids.

Feeling it today, so having a restful day. I had a visit from the Health Visitor this morning, and have spent most of day napping, reading or watching tv.

OS wise I have sorted yesterday's clean laundry, cleaned one bathroom and the downstairs loo, and sorted through the drawers in a storage unit.

Tonight is meant to be date night, but OH worked into the early hours last night and I'm tired so not sure if we will go, but if we don't we are running out of time for one before baby comes!!

Hope you are all ok x

Busy week so far for us, Monday was Water company checking for leaks and putting in water saving devices (new meter installed six months ago).

Then I had a double podiatry appointment on Tuesday.

DH had interview on Wednesday (Didn't get the job though :( His age is against him these days and in a way I am glad he is staying where he is.

Then DH had the second part of his course on Thursday.
We went shopping this morning, didn't need to get much thankfully food wise but we did end up buying a new lawnmower that was marked down from £100 to £50 and was the last in the shop :)

Out tonight at a leaving party, and tomorrow we have the staff BBQ................... phew I would say we can have a relaxing day on Sunday but we have to go and visit the outlaws!

Hopefully next week isn't so frantic

Little dawg is lying on my feet keeping my toesies warm at the moment.

Off to have a shower in a little while

    Evening chums.

Our final day turned very wet in the afternoon but there's no room to complain as the week had been do good.

Another fantastic day has passed well. On the Island of Hoy, and it's joined up neighbour Walls, we visited a perfectly persevered Martello Tower with an intact army garrison built for the Napoleonic Wars of the early 1800s, reused in both the WWs and then left alone. Beds, uniforms, fittings Nd huge battlements protecting Scapa Flow.

In the afternoon the group climbed up to Dwarfie Stane whilst I stayed by the van with two RSPB people watching for the sea eagles. In a great moment one of the Eagles took to the sky and flew over our heads.

Now for our last supper and the back to Scotland tomorrow. It's been a brilliant week and I'm sorry it's almost at the end.
  • GERS I think you deserve a bit of commission from the Orkney Tourist Board! I bet you have inspired quite a few people to look into booking the same trip you were on after reading your daily bulletins!

It's a long long way away for most of you but it'd be brilliant if any of you went! My tour was with a specialist company run by two practising archaeologist who knew all those digging. Organisation was impeccable and only eight people at a time. It was expensive but included three meals a day plus ferry fees and entrance fees. Only to / from Orkney and bar bill not included. Bar bill could be a shocker!

I booked this last July (they are so well thought of and popular) and it's been the best week I've had for a very long time. Now in bed, foot sore, weary and extremely happy.
