My son 11 starts secondary school in September so yesterday we went and bought all of his new uniform. I thought it was quite expensive how does it compare to other schools?
School jumper £9x2
School polo shirt £6.50x3
School trousers £8x2
School shoes / plain black convorse style trainers £8
School pe top £7
School pe shorts £6
Sports trainers £19

?? No my son wanted convorse. The school does allow canvas or leather shoes as long as there plain black with no logos0

I have *tried* to play sock snap but now buy them by the kilo & bin them as soon as they become holed.
You've not said if any of these things have the school logo on, but for anonymous generic school stuff
School jumper £9 - yes, that matches
School polo shirt £6.50 for as pack of 3 - yes
School trousers £8x2 - good price - my lot are definitely £5 a pair cheapest now.
School shoes / plain black converse style trainers £8 - reasonable
School pe top £7 - plain? expensive, logo'ed reasonable
School pe shorts £6 - plain? expensive, logo'ed reasonable
Sports trainers £19 - what?! Double shoe price? are they studded or specialist in any way?
By & large seems reasonable but maybe review shoeing?
The school jumper school polo shirt and pe top only have the school logo on. The schools shoes were from primark there plain black convorse style boots / trainers and his pe trainers are from sports direct0 -

What do you mean smartish clothes ?0

If you mean causal clothes most of his clothes are either from primark or sports direct0

That's a very cheap secondary school uniform.
All mine had proper school uniform with a blazer, shirts and ties for the boys, unique blouses for my girl, proper school shoes and a 6 element PE kit. Roughly £150 for Yr11Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I'd say these are very reasonable, especially for the items with a school logo. Just for a cardigan or sweater for my daughter's school, it costs between £20-£25 depending on the size you buy. Her school are also very fussy about the type of shoes worn, they won't even allow plain black ankle boots in the winter, even underneath trousers.0

My son gained a scholarship to a very good public school. The uniform is approximately £1000 a year and we get nothing towards that. Every single item apart from shoes, civilian clothes and trainers/sports shoes needs to come from the school shop.
Edit - I should add that 'top ups' (where he has outgrown or lost items) come in about £150 per term.0
