    Hi Starbrite

As sourcrates suggests. it is important to clarify whether your parking debt is a Penalty Charge Notice (typically these are issued for parking on double yellow lines or overstaying in time-limited bays), or an invoice you were issued with for overstaying on private land (supermarket/retail car parks being common examples). Just to confuse the matter, those issued on private land are often referred to as Parking Charge Notices. It's almost as if they want you to be perplexed...

Guidance on dealing with council-issued Penalty Charge Notices can be found here:

    https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/factsheets/Pages/33%20EW%20Penalty%20charge%20notices%20(PCNs)%20for%20parking/Default.aspx

I suspect, though, that what you have is a private parking debt, in which case disregard the above link.

I saved for 2 years to be able to go on holiday, I was on a tight budget while away and stuck to the budget. I knew back in April July was going to be a "poor" month due to the fact I am on a zero hours contract therefore if I do not work I do not get paid.

I managed to save enough to cover the bills I was paying pre holiday while I was away and upon my return. Alas I Unfortunately overlooked one bill, this being council tax.

My rant isn't over my ability to budget or lack of budgeting skills its over how the council tax department are not very giving. I have since looked at my monies and rearranged a few D/D with other companies who are much more nicer, accommodating and friendly and have arranged to free up some money to pay the Council tax.

Council tax is a massive bug bear I can change every other supplier expect water and council tax, (unless I move of course).

So you have a right to go on holiday but the council, whose services you use, have no right to their money? I'm with Cakeguts and Andypandyboy.

Who has told you this ?

A debt just dosent turn into a CCJ, they have to take you to court first, and you will have the chance to defend it.

Again, is it a council penalty charge notice (PCN) or a private parking ticket ?

Was a private parking ticket from Feb which I ignored... While away I got a letter from the county court business centre and a judgement for claimant letter

    100% going to a CCJ if I don't pay by 4th August...

Ok. So what this appears to mean is that you in fact already have a CCJ in respect of this parking debt, and it will only be removed from your credit file if you settle it in full within one month of the judgment i.e. 4th August.

Has the judgment for claimant letter ordered you to pay this debt by any sort of instalment plan, or simply "forthwith" (immediately and in full)?

Have a look at the following fact sheet for guidance on how to "vary" the payments set on the CCJ if you are unable to afford the current terms:

I can't believe I am actually still engaging in a conversation with someone so immature. For the last time, it is not the council's, or the tax office's, or the utility company's or the parking authority's job to be lenient or flexible: It is your responsibility to pay what you owe on time before taking six weeks off to go on holiday! I recommend you either grow up or move back home where you can get your !!! wiped for you. Either that or stop expecting sympathy.

You are welcome. This is not a service provided by debt charities but is one from which you might just benefit if you ever paid attention.

There is a difference between cannot pay because you are destitute and cannot pay because you spent it on a holiday....

Stuck in their ways.....because they want paying for a service? Yes, I expect they are:rotfl:

Their money that you are complaining about them wanting pays for schools, social services and a lot of other things. It's not as if they are spending it on holidays. The call us if you need help is for people who can't pay not choose not to pay and spend the money on themselves.

If you lose your right to monthly instalments are you going to be able to pay next years in one go in April?
