Unfortunately if the childcare dates are wrong there is not much advice we can give you here other than telling you to call them to see if it's possible to correct it.

If they don't correct it, you'll need to appeal the decision. This must be done within 30 days of 7th July (the date of the final award). It's possible they might refuse because it's been on past awards notices and you haven't checked them thoroughly.

As for the income, changing from £20336 in 2014/15 to £23828 in 2015/16 wouldn't normally affect the 2015/16 claim because the change was less than £5000. The issue would be the time it was changed to £14291. However as this was changed within a couple of weeks it's unlikely to have caused the overpayment.

DS is right - the change down to 14291 is likely to have caused a small overpayment but it won't be the full amount. However if you received childcare from 6/4/2015 to 26/7 and then that was later removed, then that could create an overpayment. However, i would have expected your payments after that to have reduced so by April the overpayment would not have existed.

You need to appeal the final award notice which as DS says must be done within 30 days. At least you can call the helpline and ask them to look at why it was removed.

Thanks, when I called yesterday he told me it was because we must no longer have been eligible for childcare costs! I called back but was told they can't/won't correct it, it will have to be mentioned to the appeal. I did check each award notice but we got that many they all looked the same :( guess it does pay to be extra careful. The overpayment we got from the change in income should have been adjusted when they changed it back as the payments dropped by either £10 or £20 a week below the pre change amount.

Thanks IQ as you mentioned the payments were reduced which is why it's baffling me. They are sending out the form to appeal. Fingers crossed.

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

I shouldn't even bother to dignify this with an answer. Because he earnt more than he was supposed to do. Because he didn't support his family. And because now I'm going to have to pay for his mistake again. Just like I have to pay for a solicitor to divorce him for his adultery! He gets to take the easy option, screw around, reap the benefits and leaves us struggling. Yeah no wonder he left...

Earnt more than he was 'supposed' to?

Sounds like you BOTH had a lucky escape

I wouldnt bother replying to Guest 101 - he's a very rude poster with fixed views about ' women ' He's formed an opinion with zero information.

Unfortunately they base the Tc award on a whole years salary - even though you wasnt together.

    Oh really?

They've split up, he's decided to earn a few extra pounds and now it's 'his mess', not the flawed system, the bloke....

I suggest you are careful with how you reply, as that comment is reportable.
