You may not get the full amount on one card but you can apply for two. At your salary and if your credit rating is good then I would expect you would have a good chance of getting that balance onto 0% over two cards for two or more years. You then make only the minimum payment on these and stash your monthly cash into some of the high interest current accounts.

The interest won't amount to massive amount on money but seems a prime example for using a regular saver at 5 or 6%.

Most definitely do something - paying nearly £500 a month with less than half paying off the debt is not the way to got when there are so many other cheaper ways of doing it.

Even if you get a lower limit with another card you will probably find that once you do a balance transfer, MBNA will come back with BT offers or a rate for life. In that case you could transfer the recent BT back to MBNA and then transfer the high interest part of the MBNA balance to your other card.

At the moment you are so close to your limit which means that you probably aren't seeing any offers.
