Filling Gap in Kitchen

When we fitted our kitchen in 2014 there was a gap between the washing machine and the wall. We got a joiner to fit a board in place as photographed below - it looked better than a gap but we've just had the house rewired and are starting to finish off some loose ends - I'd like to try make this look nicer.

Any thoughts what we could put in that space? The stop !!!! for the house is behind it hence the machine isn't up against the wall.

Some kind of wine rack or custom made draws - ensuring you still have access to the stopcock?

Of perhaps somewhere to hang tea towels / oven gloves etc - sounds daft but its one thing we don't have in our new house and always have elsewhere - kind of miss it.

Just done our kitchen and we have a space like this with pipes behind.

Oh has made a 'unit' half the depth from a cover panel of the kitchen units with a shelf in the middle and it looks great with my cookery books in.

I had a gap like that; about 250mm, so too small for a cupboard. I had an open shelf unit fitted (the joiners cut it down from 300mm) and it holds cookery books, oven gloves and rolls foil, wrap etc.

Pull out towel rail hung from underside of the worktop?

    Wine rack?

Set of wall mounted, pull out racks or brackets for holding kitchen items, veg etc?

    Bin or recycling bins?

I wish I thought of that myself before finishing off our kitchen but that would look good there.

Use the space to store your washing powder.
