What you think of this house?

Me and my wife are interested in buying a house in Newcastle upon tyne, ideally within the tynemouth area. However central tynemouth is way out of our price range!
I can't post the link but if your search this postcode NE30 2AE on rightmove (this area only), its the corner house with the blue door.
We dont have children yet but this is something that we are thinking about.
Any thoughts much appreciated. Is the asking price fair? Given the current economic climate do you think a reduction would be possible. There is also alot of scaffold outside the house next door, is this something to worry about. Also the house was originally STD about 6 weeks ago, would this concern you?
Thanks

No garden? It's a lovely looking house and for me living in north London that price wouldn't even get a condemned studio flat, but I would want a garden personally.0

Considering the condition of this, the garden, the extra room, this one seems much better value an I'd much rather go for this

How big is the rear yard? I'm surprised there's no picture. It's a lovely looking house but if there isn't at least enough outside space for a few plant pots and a small table then that would kill it for me.0

If you really want to be "right there" and not further out .... then the house inside's fine... but it's got a lot of "oddities" about it that might make it annoying to live with once you've bought it.
e.g. corner houses can attract a lot of "strange things going on outside", from people stopping to chat to friends as they're both about to part and go in different directions, to people parking up with their engine running either waiting for somebody or checking a map. It's "odd" that to the rear there's no window in that big wall. As has been said, there's no garden, but a lot round that way don't seem to have so maybe that's the way it is round there.
I think I'd keep looking .....0 -
I much prefer the first one - not personally being a fan of the 'renovated to sell, no character' type property - but even speaking as empty nesters, DH and I wouldn't buy somewhere with just a yard for a garden.
The EA describes it as a "family house", but in my experience families expect some kind of useable outside space and I think if you do have kids you would appreciate having a grassy, safe play area within the curtilage of your home.
Just my two cents, but I agree with Pastures and would keep looking.Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

I would buy it based on picture 13 alone. Totally get why they have taken a macro shot of that retrofitted brass door lock. Oooof. That must be from B&Q's 'finest' range...0

Think very carefully about this. There are two things about it that would put families off. 1) There is no garden. 2) There is no off street parking where you can unload the children and the shopping outside the house not in the road.
Is there a shower or is the one over the bath the only one? It is a big house but there is no downstairs toilet and the kitchen is small. I think you may be being expected to pay for the style.0 -
No garden means it's hardly a family home. The kitchen looks a bit awkward too.Thinking critically since 1996....0

Looks like a nice house. Just to be clear, though, you're wanting to live in North Shields/Tynemouth rather than Newcastle? Nothing wrong with Shields, but quite different from the city (and your budget would cover a house in parts of Newcastle).0
