Last name issue

Hi,

I was wondering if any compers have experienced problems when filling out forms if their last name contain a 'special' character. For example a hyphen/apostrophe.

My last name contains an apostrophe and I never know whether to include it in competition forms or not as I heard that some comp forms don't accept special characters and will disregard an entry if it contains them? Could this be one of the reasons I haven't won a single thing since starting in october? Or am I just having a lot of bad luck?

I don't know for sure but I would leave it out to be on the safe side. My iPad always puts a space after my email and telephone number (anyone know how to stop it?), sometimes a message will pop up saying 'please enter a valid email' or ' can only contain numbers' so I delete the space and it goes through. I now try to remember to delete it every time but I do wonder if it has stopped me winning. I hope you win soon!

I think forms usually flag up things that aren't allowed, as Misslayed said. I don't know if that's always the case though.

I often find it a problem with my address as I have a forward slash between my building and flat numbers - I end up having to write it a different way!

I have a hyphen in my first name and I find it incredibly annoying when forms won't allow special characters!
