I have been absolutely glued to the last 3 shows on catch-up!

Now sympathy whatsoever for the couple on episode 3, talk about buying into an image-heavy lifestyle. I was stunned at the portions on their Sunday dinner plates - one would feed me for 2 whole days!

Episode 4 - what a lovely lady, but the champers every Friday?! And take-away costs? Mind you we all have our favourite treats, mine is a coffee out.

Episode 5 - the couple were neither here nor there. I let out an audible groan at the motorway service meals vs £60 of shopping: what planet were they living on?

I think I might apply for the show!

I watched it all week brilliant programmes but I wonder where they get these people. A combined income of £90,000 and only paying the minimum on their cards but adding to that debt all the time. Ouch to that. I just have a basic pension and make the cards work for me and never pay interest and when I get to a poundshop I even have a list for that. Maybe I am just a sad old bat but I could never live happily owing sooo much money. :p
  • I've downloaded all of the current episodes of this, although I don't know why, I can't stand Dominic Littlewood. I found the couple from the first episode as bad as each other, he just seemed angry with her, and she was just point scoring against him. I didn't like it when Littlewood said to the lady he was interviewing, 'you're guilty of living at home' like it was some terrible thing, when really it's a sign of the current economic times.

I enjoyed these programmes and even though I pay my cc off in full each month I still find a few of their ideas are worth me trying. Entertaining viewing for me but it amazes me how people just pay the minimum on a credit card and add to the debt each month. I hate to pay interest - to me that is just throwing money away -and I check my account on line every day or two. Just as well that I do this as my credit card account was hacked on Monday so I have no card till the replacement arrives within 14 days.

I caught up on the last 4 episodes overnight, some good ideas for moneysaving and I like the idea of the free exercise class. Was not impressed by the husband in yesterday's episode! It looked to me that he was happy to take, but not to give.

I am grateful for the OP for bringing this to our attention and am slowly watching the episodes on I Player. I identified quite strongly with the lady retiring before she has actually reached the latest retirement age. I am no longer motivated in, or enjoying my job any more and I am thinking of retiring a year or so early and living out of savings but I wouldn't have so many luxuries to cut back on in the first place! I am really looking forward to the next few episodes which are much more positive and structured than some of the thrift programmes around, whose names escape me!

I'm enjoying these programmes too. Some good tips.

I need to re-watch today's because my DS2 was yakking. There was a young couple who had really nailed air miles.

And as I am now retired and want to travel this really interests me.

Living Proof - I think a lot of women have been caught out by the changes in pensions and like you want or need to retire before state pension kicks in.

Hope you find all the help and advice you need to enable you to retire soon.

One thing I will say is that when you are retired it does seem easier to streeeetch the pennies. I did worry about not having enough income but I have found that time is my best resource.....time to shop around for the best deals and use my skills to make my money go further.
