You said you were self employed but PAYE (which is employment). Can you confirm which?

Whether you consider yourself living together or not isn't really relevant here, it's them that make the rules. I'm not saying that to be rude, it's not about playing any games, it's about claiming benefits that you are eligible for based on your household circumstances.

I assume she also claims benefits with a low wage and a child so she'll need to notify them too. Assuming has gets tax credits, she'll no longer be eligible for WTC unless you are incapacitated.

Is the OP's official home his parents' home as his bank address is there and (presumably) he is registered on the electoral roll at that address?

What is his situation with regard to Class 1 NI for the relevant period?

If he is entitled to JSA (Conts) then he'll get it regardless of his girlfriend's situation?

The self employed don't pay class 1 NIC.

For your girl rriend's sake you need to move back in with your parents.

Whether you are found to be only a guest or not it would only take one nosy neighbour to get tax credits or the DWP to investigate. They tend to stp benefits and then investigate which would not be a situation your girl friend would thank you for.

Move back in with your parents and find a job, any job, now is not the time to be picky. You have debts, and they are increasing. Once you have a job you can apply for jobs that you really want.

No one is being horrid about your situation. It is what it is.
