Isles of Scilly by plane/train

I'm going to the Isles of Scilly on August 20th. Our plan is to get the train to Penzance and then fly from Lands End. Has anybody done this, and can you advise on how much time I need to allow for between the train arriving in Penzance and the flight leaving from Lands End? I have paid for a shuttle bus to take us to the airport, but I'm a bit nervous about train delays etc (it's a 5 hour journey from Reading).

Does the bus not provide the transfer time? Normally about 20 minutes but I've never got a bus

Jealous though, I love Isles of Scilly!

I wouldn't worry about the shuttle bus side of things. If the time between the train arriving and the plane departing is a bit tight (say less than an hour), I'd get an earlier train or a later flight. There's plenty of places in Penzance to kill an hour or more. Lots of places to eat. There's always people wandering along Penzance seafront pulling their holiday luggage and killing time.

The shuttle is indeed a 20 min drive ... as long as you don't get stuck behind a farmer moving his potatoes ...
