Small piece of ceiling just fell on me in the shower...

Is this something I can fix myself? Having horrible visions of needing a whole new ceiling! It was only about 50p sized and the hole is about 4mm deep at the deepest point... It looks like it might crumble more though, and there is another patch elsewhere in the bathroom that looks a bit unhappy... No problems with mould or anything like that. I've never heard of a crumbly ceiling before. The house is only 14 years old, and we've had two radiators fall off the walls since we moved in three years ago too... they don't build them like they used to do they...

If it's not too bad it might just be a case of cleaning up the hole, filling with polyfiller or similar and repainting.

It sounds like the plaster over a nail or screw has come away with movement, quite common. Do as Thescouselander says.

Small bits of ceiling don't just fall on you. Unless it is just a filler over a plasterboard nail/screw, something is wrong above, investigate
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Thanks all. This is a picture of it, could that round thing be a screw perhaps? It's close to the wall so what you can see is grouting, not a leak or anything! It's on the middle floor of a three storey house, with a bedroom above it (no water supply on that floor at all).

It's the filler over a plasterboard screw/nail, fill it again and wear a helmet in the shower in future, ;);)

  • I agree. Just fill it again. cyclonebri1's "wear a helmet in the shower in future." made me smile. :)
