It all depends on whether you have an Orange mobile phone or Sky or who your phone provider is for example:

I have an Orange mobile and my tariff is £30 a month which entitles me to a free wireless live box which can be usd to make cheap calls and also totally free internet.
Sky also have deals on at the moment I think, they do packages that include calls and or internet.

The best for me is definitely Orange but that just because I already have there mobile phone package

Have a look at this forum.

And also have a look at Uswitch

Then when you find which broadband provider you want, look at the cashback sites like Quidco http://www.quidco.com/mobiles-utilities/internet-providers/ to see what cashback is on offer.
  • Broadand is free with a talk talk land line

    Every little helps
  • A talk talk land line is for BT line. You pay your line rental to BT as normal and your calls to talk talk (i think).

I'm with Virgin on the 3 for £30 offer - phone with free uk landline calls anytime of day up to an hour (then redial), Large TV and 2mb broadband. 2mb isn't a lot i know, but it does us just fine and dandy. However, if you are downloading films etc you may want to get higher than 2mb
  • I am using Sky Broadband I get 8mb download speed and 40gb a month usage for £5 a month ,although I must confess to downloading a load more than that last month !!

You pay the line rental to Talk Talk, they actually take over the line from BT, and not just an overide provider like Sky.

I have everything with Sky at the moment, and with my 12 month contract up soon I am just debating whether to change. Mind you at £44 for telephone, internet, and tv with multiroom and sky+ its not a deal to be sniffed at (I don't have unbundling round here so £17 for broadband).

I haven't really had any problems with sky broadband, except at the beginning, but they had just brought it out then. Since then it has been fine.

The real test of how cheap something is how much you actually use it. If you are just doing general stuff without downloading masses, then Talk Talk or Sky are similar. If you do loads of downloading then the £24.99 package from BT has unlimited downloads and up to 8mb, which is pretty reasonable.

As for customer service, Sky is pretty good. The 0870 number can be circumnavigated and whenever I contact them about anything they get things sorted pretty quickly. Mind you I haven't contacted them for over 8 months. I have the odd times when things slow, but I just re-boot the router and its fine. At the beginning they messed me about a bit, but it ended up being something as simple as the MTU rate, which is truly daft seems as they provide specialised firmware on their routers and they could have done this at the factory, instead of annoying me with fixing it. So except for that I would give Sky a 8/10

TV £17 Multiroom £10 Telephone £5 (Ulimited Uk Calls) Broadband £17 and as you can see my maths suck and its £49 as I forgot the phone LOL

Thankfully Sky+ is now free with any package so that's a £20 Saving, and this is what kept me from jumping ship to freeview, well that and all the shows I watch are on Sky One LOL
