overdraft with Nationwide

Hi all,

Hoping you can help.

I've had my nationwide account since the beginning of Jan - was originally advised that after 4 months i should get a pre-approved overdraft amount (no amount given).

Now ive ran my account well according to Nationwide- never overdrawn or had DD bounce opened a savings account and put a set amount of money in and ive always had a healthy balance.

My credit history is MUCH better than it used to be - my last 3 years have been all positive. Paying credit cards off in full and on time - cleared my catlouge and store cards. I do have a few defaults which are coming off.

I rang up nationwide earlier and they said that no overdraft option is available to me and to call back in 6 months to see if there is a pre-approved amount.

Can anyone assist? I ideally want the minimum £100 interest free over draft as a Flex plus account not interested in anymore - i need this to show on my credit file as im planning on getting a mortgage once all my defaults fall off and i require good positive credit history and it helps me out for a rainy day.

Thanks

If you've already asked Nationwide and they said no, then I doubt anyone on here can assist!

Having said that, was their original advice (that you'd be eligible) put in writing as a firm commitment?

Overdrafts are only intended for short-term temporary/emergency funding, so I'm not sure that having one would necessarily help you anyway if you're trying to rebuild credit status....

Getting an overdraft and then regularly using it will not look very good on a mortgage application in my opinion. It will look like your getting short of money and can't afford a mortgage if you need an overdraft, so I wouldn't bother getting one.

Call back in 6 months or once the defaults are off your credit report...
