Trip to Australia

Hi there, we are thinking of going to Australia for 3 weeks in December. We have never been to Perth before and would like to spend a week there. Does anyone have any suggestions. We are looking for close to beach with possibly pool for accommodation. What would a day-trip to Rottnest Island be like? Would it be worth staying there longer? What other things are there to do with an 8 year old boy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :j

Try looking on the Trip Advisor website.
They have accomodation reviews/things to do/attractions plus a whole forum dedicated to Perth.

Hope this helps
