Tuesday 12th July - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning all - armed with a :coffee: I thought I'd start us off. Already up 45 minutes
although on the bright side I've managed to squeeze a second load on cheap leccy and first load on the line :rotfl:
Hope everyone is ok. Cat lovely to see you back. Agree with Bob you just need to work out what is not 'worth' doing and you can get 'best bang for your buck' i.e. If you've got a massive pile of ironing that will take you all day and you can pay someone £30 to do it, that's probably worth it.
My list for today:
Turn the ys parsnips, shallots and curry powder that's been in sc overnight in to soup
All meals from stores, lunch to work. Something easy and not in need of reheating as I'll likely need to eat on the go
Hot drink for commute
Respond to a qu on fleabay
Bump selling pages post maybe list on fleabay too
Get some chocolate to make teacher gift for tomorrow. Forgot one of them only works until Wednesday  at least it'll be fresh :rotfl:
Check banking, TT to savings split 3 ways
Fly lady bathroom
What about you lovely lot?0 -
Morning guys
Cat - Perhaps you could see how much you could spare this month (say £100 as a start of summer treat) and then see what you can get done for that - splash out on a cleaner, gardener, someone to do your laundry... (obvs depending on what you want doing and how much have 'spare'). Then you'll get a sense of what is REALLY helpful and what you can keep up with for yourself. When OH and I lived in a really small 1-bed flat we paid for someone to do our laundry - was well worth it as it was something we just couldn't keep up with ourselves with lack of space etc. It used to really get me down.
Here's me as a starter for ten:
Brekkie at work - free milk
Packed lunch - tuna sandwich, crisps, apple
Free tea in work
Posh coffee at home - no costalot for me :A
Ask to work from home tomorrow
Prep for yoga
YNAB!
Put a cheque in :T
Batch cook something...Have sausages or turkey to use up...
Catch up soon everyone

Morning all :hello: :coffee:
And so it begins. I'm up and I don't have a massive work day ahead so I can think about some more of the normal things that I need to get caught up on. Thanks for the welcomes and the advice Bob, LaE and PF. I'm so run down at the moment that everything feels like a chore. I'm sure I'll feel better once I start feeling more rested.
Here's today's list
:coffee: check banking and PAD
:coffee: 4 lesson teach day
:coffee: prep for tomorrow's lessons
:coffee: mark at least 1 set of books (hopefully 2)
:coffee: get on with claiming my expenses from London trip last month
:coffee: be in bed before 10pm tonight
:coffee: tiny bit of housework
That will do as I've been so disorganised the past few weeks, any small steps will be progress.
Have a good day. :jNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning all
Sun is shining here, busy day ahead. Need to go to job no 1 then squeeze in a visit to job no 2 before I get DS2, bring him home and take him to work. DS2 needs collecting at 8pm which is when the local supermarket discount their nearly out of date meat and veg so I always get quite excited about seeing what I can find. Sad I know.
Oh and yesterday I booked a few days away camping, £102 for all 4 of us for 4 nights. Really looking forward to that.
Right, on with the day!0 -
Oh good morning early birds.
Manged to get through my list yesterday which always feels good so lets hope for the same again;
Check banks and YNAB
Visit sports shop for birthday present
Bring healthy snacks to work
Charge phone at work
Exercise, shower and enjoy dinner at my grans
Check free postcode lottery
Have a nice day everyone!0 -
Hi guys
thanks for the start PF
Cat I'd like to add my two pence worth to the debate. I agree if you can afford to pay someone to do some menial tasks that you hate then it's a good idea - particularly gardening. If you hate it you're probably not as efficient as someone who does it for their job. Do you have any teenage boys in your neighbourhood who would do it for some cash? I know my son used to do some neighbour's lawns for a fiver. I was also thinking can get your kids involved? Not sure of their ages but they might be up for ironing if there was extra cash to be earned.
Also remember you don't need to do everything. In the next week or two you will have more time to catch up. In mega busy times I will make a massive batch of something (spag, chilli, curry etc) and then we will eat it for days on end so I only have to cook a couple of times a week. I must say whenever I have paid someone to clean (we did a couple of years ago when my job meant I was doing 60+ hours pw) I was disappointed with what she did and didn't think it was worth the cash. I think it's about weighing up what's the most efficient way to get important things done, and working out what is important and what really doesn't matterDF as at 30/12/16

Morning Tuesday Savers,
Have woken uo with a headache so just waiting for tablets to work then will get cracking.
*Line-dry laundry outside for free.
*Water greenhouse veggies.
*Pick sweetpeas. These need picking regularly as they die off if they are allowed to set seed, so I'm bringing in pretty little bunches every 2 or 3 days to fragrance the house. Not bad from a packet of free seeds!
*Make a loaf in the BM.
*Make ice-cream. Made the rhubarb puree for this yesterday. Need to bake ginger biscuity crumb bits today & make up the ice-cream. (Am getting ahead with a dessert for when we have guests in 3 weeks time. Only had to buy cream, everything else in stock. No ice-cream making machine required).
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Use it up - Have got 2 lipsticks where I will now be extracting the last third of the product with a lip brush.
*If it stays dry, intend to tidy up my herb bed by cutting & tying bunches to bring inside for drying.
*Cast on Mum's Christmas present. Free knitting pattern & yarn was in the sale. Managed to get a couple of colours I think she will like.
Ok. Think I will go & make a start on clearing all last night's pots - not like us to leave them but ended up eating late as I had to attend a meeting at v short notice. Have a good day all.

Ok small things for the day:
* vacuum upstairs - didn't get round to it yesterday
* decide whether to go food shopping - am in two minds as think I could eek it out another day... If I do take my shopping list & carrier bags
* get ready and go the allotment soon, take squash's to plant out
* water greenhouse veg
* all meals from stores - lo chorizo & chicken pasta for lunch for oh & me and lo ratatouille with rice and ciabatta for dinner.
* contact new employer to find out what's happening with my start date. My bank balance is looking ominously low!
* photo and list some things on ebay
* make a thank you template to who end to people gave her birthday gifts
* post something to a MSEr
* investigate ally's solution to my keyboard problems :A
* text a few people back who have contacted me in the last week (I'm the worst at replying to texts/emails)
That'll do. Have a great day everyone xDF as at 30/12/16
