Morning folks
Work absolutely flew in yesterday I was that busy. Went home and made dinner for the GF of steak, sweet potato and asparagus however I over cooked the asparagus and under cooked the sweet potato - the steak was nice though.
We sat down and watched Spectre, which I loved but the GF wasn't that interested so we started watching Game of Thrones to see what the fuss is about. But despite an early night, I wake again feeling shattered. Think I'm still catching up from a busy weekend.
Today I'm going to my grans for dinner. I've bought her a bouquet of flowers to say thanks, I hope she likes them. Should be another relaxing night and hopefully early night.
Gers - Your holiday sounds great, hope the weathers been behaving for you. Are all the activities planned in advance for you, kind of like a package deal? Or have you came up with the ideas yourselves?
Sarah - Good morning and welcome0 -
Good Morning everyone the sun is shining and the sky is blue so its a bright start to the day. With our british summer who knows how long it will last ,but I enjoy it when I can.Coffee morning at Dobbies for U3A this morning and Quiz night tonight .No cooking tonight for me so I will probably have a salad at lunchtim.I am going to try some mashed up pilchard with some sweet chilli sauce in my salad today as I found a dinky little round tin in the cupboard and as I don't eat or keep bread in the house ,I can't put them on toast. Can't be a lot different that tuna once mashed up and I chuck sweet chilli sauce in that.
I think the flavour I'm thinking of is piquant, or as my DD would say (Mum,that's just odd !!):):) I like to mix things together that I like and experiment a bit Maybe I will have hit on something amazing ,who knows but I am willing to give it a go
Right time to get a wriggle on
Hope everyone has a great day what ever they are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -
Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Up with the lark (well almost) niece coming at lunchtime so need to get ahead. We did not eat all the left over chicken last night, so I am planning on doing a sandwich filling with diced chick, onion chives and mayo. Will hard boil a couple of eggs as well.
The kitchen floor needs some attention, sp I will shove the Dyson over it and the sitting room and then mop the kitchen floor, I could do with using the steam cleaner on the floor, but OH is on his knees again in the garden and I need help to move the table, its too heavy for me to lift alone. I will just pull it out and mop at the back of it.
No other plans, I will be shattered, so will prep tonight supper this morning, we are having cauli and calabrese gratin with jacket spuds and baked tomato. there are two small portions of the crumble left so they will have to do for dessert.
Right off to finish my second cup of coffee and get going.0 -
Morning all,
Little Evie was zonked when we picked her up yesterday she just slept all evening, she did go out for a wee though which is great a it mean everything down there is still working ! This morning she woke me at 5.30 for another wee and as I was locking up after her she ran in and up the stairs, she is not meant to do stairs or jumping on / off things for ages ! I think its going to be hard to keep her calm for 21 days !!
Spicy meatballs for dinner tonight I will put them on a low in the oven this afternoon. Will have a quick clean round this morning then this afternoon on Puppy watch ! I have taken the week off to look after her and its really nice not feeling you have go dash somewhere every day !!
Welcome to Sarah xx
Have good days all xx0 -

Are you still using the Manuka? It sounds painful and discouraging for DH and hope it gets better soon. I tried to order bedding from Deb***** as well but could not get it to accept my password so eventually got the same thing from am*z** for a few pounds more and free delivery. It is a lovely design called blue poppy and should go well with the bedroom decor which is egyptian cotton on walls and cream and grey modern flowered curtains.
Two builders are digging up the garden to level it ready to be landscaped and flagged. I feel so sorry for them as it is such a hot day so took out a couple of glasses of iced squash and a jugfull to refill easily. They had to use a measuring jug as I could not find the nice carafes. Lots of things are still in boxes.
Suddenly realised I was being silly keeping the whirlygig and surrounding paving as I really like to have a washing line so have managed to change the plan just in time.
Gers
I really envy you the scenery especially Skara Brae.
Just about to nip out for some milk etc and plan to take some chicken out of the freezer and slow cooker it later so I can have it hot or cold depending on the weather. Too hot to cook right now so going to have an easy day and maybe unpack some more boxes slowly and pace myself. There is cauliflower and long stem broccoli in the fridge so might look out a low cal recipe for cheese sauce and have that tonight and maybe freeze some.

Elona,
The ulcers had healed so he didn't need to use the manuka, but inflammation has started to build up in his leg and 2 ulcers have just started. I only had one dressing left so sent for more last night. I have dressed his leg and the dressing needs to stay on for several days, by which time the others should be here.
The trouble is he won't tell me when these start up so I can catch them in time, but he did need the ABs because of the inflammation.
I feel a bit yucky today so taking things easy. Collected the bedding. and I had intended changing the bedroom but it might have to wait until tomorrow, I will see how I feel this afternoon.
Your bedding sounds lovely, I just ordered plain lilac because the curtains and bedspread are grey check with a touch of Heather colour so I thought it would look nice. I bought the Oxford pillowcases because I think they look good, fitted sheet and a flat sheet.

The lilac should go beautifully with your bedspread and curtains and look "designery" . I deliberately chose fairly neutral carpet, curtains and wall colour so that I could go very colourful with the bedding and treated myself to a couple of sets in the sales - blue and yellow flowers, pink and blue flowers in a splash of colour and a red and grey huge floral bordered one. The wall board I ordered is still to go up but is mid grey with tiny crystals instead of buttoned detail.
Maybe your DH will be more willing to tell you at the first signs now so you can nip things in the bud. Fingers crossed for you both.
I have just been to the shops and treated the builders to an ice cream to show appreciation for their hard work on such a hot day. I found some lovely tiny new potatoes which will make a nice potato salad with fat free greek yoghurt for later.

Afternoon - Maeshow was astonishing. A huge mound in the middle of a field with an underground chamber from Neolithic man, complete with ancient art and runes. It's across the Harray Loch from Ness of Brodgar and the standing stones.
After our lunch we were set 'free' so, of course, we all hit the shops and /or local museums. I bought myself an Orkney silver ring and a bottle of wine. I also took some clothes to the local launderette, I hate bringing back dirty clothes and I want to wear two of the tops. The weather has certainly been much kinder than the forecast of last week and I'm over provided with cold /wet weather clothes and under provided with mild / dry weather ones. Mind you it's extremely windy most of the time.
I skipped breakfast and will give dinner a miss.
RedRuby - good to hear that Evie survived her op. She'll be bouncing around again.
Elona and Candlelight - your colours schemes both sound calming and beautiful.
Coxy 11 - I did manage to resist the cake. So proud of myself!
TA - Hebden Bridge is a lovely town it's always seemed so beautiful.
Right, I need a rest now.0 -
Well I picked up the bed linen, and in fact it is more a heather colour than lilac, so I am doubly happy.
I think I should have been born in Scotland, I adore tartan and checks, our granddaughter who lives with us is called Heather and I absolutely love Scottish black pudding:)

Good afternoon chums ,lovely sunny morning degenerated into a very wet afternoon, where is this years summer hiding I wonder.
Only just over four weeks until our holidays, hope things brighten up a bit by then.
Candlelight all of my family apart from my late brother Davey and I were born and bred in Scotland We were two cockney sparrows being born in the east end of London (much to my Dad's regret)I enjoy things scots including shortbread, whiskey (in very small drams) Tartan we all wore as children My two brothers wore kilts to school until Davey kept coming home with black eyes through arguing that they wern't 'sissy skirts'
Our family clan on my Mothers side were the Stuart's (red tartan) and on my Dad's the Buchanans (yellow/green).It is an amazing country with such hospitable people, and beautiful scenery.Weather isn't brilliant though,my dad used to say the only difference between summer and winter was the rain was warmer in the summer
Only thing I disliked were bannocks which tasted like concrete and my Dad would never have haggis in the house as he said it was only the poor folk who ate it.
Delicious angus beef is to die for though, and there is nothing nicer than a finny haddock with a poached egg on top. In scotland they put marmalade on toast not jam and salt on porridge not sugar and I still do,and I make porridge as my late Mum did with water and salt and once thick and gloopy in the bowl the top of the milk (or cream) goes around the edge:):)
