i have a a set of TL-pa511 and wented to get another unit, but the
TL-511 seems to be gone and it appears to have been replaced with TL -411
trying to find out if the two are compatible ?

All HomePlug AV equipment will work with each other no matter the brand or model number.
TP-Link use a range of chip suppliers so make sure you download the right software to use with each piece of equipment.
If you want my advice TP-Link are fine but I would buy a pass-through adapter. At some point in the future you will want to plug something into that socket and the pass-through makes it possible.
