Anxiety affecting my life
Comments

Just wanted to add my little bit to hopefully help. I suffer from anxiety from being a teen *now 40* - I did CBT and that itself didn't help but it led me to explore mindfulness and self help techniques.
I may sound batty, but I self talk when I am nervous and rationalise everything, being a very logical person that helps me.
If you would like I can post you a book I have read called "the mindful way through depression". I know it says depression but there is a heavy focus on anxiety - this book really helped me, it helps you break your anxiety attacks into little chunks that are easier to deal with and teaches relaxation techniques.
I don't think there is any way to permanently rid yourself of anxiety, only to manage the symptoms better.
Let me know if you want the book, you can PM me.

I don't have any advice. Just wanted to say you're not alone.
I feel these days my life is ruled by anxiety.
You make decisions in the grip of anxiety that you wouldn't make normally.
I really hope you manage to get on a more even keel.Sigless0 -
Don't beat yourself up and don't dwell on it. You know what your limits are at the moment, and if you decided it was too much then you made the right choice.
I haven't had cbt but I have had and still go to counselling. I find it great to get things off my chest and run my fears through with someone won't think I'm being daft.
I also have been on meds in the past but I absolutely hate going on them so only took them when really desperately low.
I can only say be kind to yourself, take things at the pace YOU need to, and remember there are literally millions of people out there going through this just like you. You aren't an idiot and you aren't alone. X0 -
There are some great self-help books available, if you don't want to go down the medication route.
This one for example is a 'books on prescription' publication and is often available in libraries, as well as bookstores:

^^^on this. Loise Hay is good too. I'd recommend subliminal tapes that you can play before going to sleep or when relaxing. They really work and I know because I used to make them.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
