What sort of check is it? Identity? Presumably they don't get access to credit data - only those who contribute credit data can also access it - I think :rotfl:

Full access to all credit data held on Experian.
Your comment about only those who contribute data can also access it is incorrect.
The employer makes no secrecy that they are doing this and it shows up on Experian as a soft search, it is not an identification check. I have no issue with it personally and can understand why it's necessary.

Oh, but I thought specific credit data was only available to members of the so-called "closed group". That is, as an organisation you must contribute credit data if you are to be afforded the privilege of carrying out credit checks. Is this not so?

Not if you are the government!!
Certain roles require certain security checks and that can include full access to credit files.
If you are heavily indebted with debt that is out of control, it would make you more susceptible to being bribed......

Well there's a surprise, NOT. The government and untold other unscrupulous bleeders helping themselves to the Experian honeypot. One of these days - but I'm not holding my breath - the Experian rep will come on here to explain just who can get access and under what conditions. I suppose in summary it would be; "anyone who asks, if they pay the price". Stroll on! They might as well just post the lot on Facebook.
