We have an old Hoover that was my mum's before I got it, it is at least 15 years old and it has a 30 min wash which I use for everything except towels and bedding ( longer hotter wash) and delicates ( longer but lower temp wash) My DD just bought a new Hoover for about £270 and it has even shorter cycles which she assures me do a good job.

Bosch. 15 min cycle if you need it. And reliable to boot.

More seriously, in 15 years of repairing them I never came across one that did any damage by fire, other than to itself.
This one seemed to do a bit better:-

Another reason for being in the house while the washing was being done would be so that I could turn it off if there was an electrical storm. We had £200-worth of damage done to the electronics when we left one running overnight and a thunderstorm came over.

My beko does a 30 min 30 degree wash, however OP says she is thinking of when she has kids, and a 30 degree probably isn't going to cut it then!

Fast wash for full load - 12kg in 32 min
You no longer have to wait hours for your daily wash to be ready, with our Daily Quick programme you can wash a large load of lightly soiled laundry, even as big as 12kg, in as little as 32 minutes.

We are on our second Bosch (the first having a freak fault that the repairman had never known before) and it's fine.

As you will know Bosch do three grades, so have a look at the characteristics at each level. They sometimes do specials; ours is one , where it has some of the benefits of the grade above but not at a higher price.

My husband, who uses the machine, says it has a 15minute cycle for washing that just needs freshening.

We've just bought the same Miele as Theonlywayisup and I love it. It was a bit of a luxury purchase, but I convinced my husband that I would never have to buy another one so it was actually a bargain!

I have never owned a Miele before, but I am totally sold.

My AEG has a 20 minute cycle, but that is only meant for 3kg washes - the drum has a capacity of 8kg. The main cotton wash can be trimmed down to an hour. Truth is it never takes as long as it threatens as it weighs the wash and reduces the time to suit automatically. The main eco wash option threatens nearly three hours. A full main wash typically runs in an hour and a half without pressing for any time save options.
    VERY interesting
I think I have the same machine as you but admit I have never used the eco wash as I REFUSE to have a 3 hour cycle. :o I might give it a go tomorrow.

    Is that this one?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-WAE24167GB-Classixx-1200rpm-Freestanding/dp/B010BLMGTU?ie=UTF8&SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B010BLMGTU&linkCode=xm2&!!!!!duc08-21

We're thinking of buying that model, as there's only two of us, and it does half-loads and a short wash, and is supposed to be very eco-friendy.
