mine so far....
The lady got funny that we had a dog! She didn’t like dogs and didn’t want one in ‘her’ house (we only mentioned the dog once to each other in passing, our dog was not present at the viewing!) – we were polite but she just trailed behind us asking what we thought, repeatedly - If we commented to each other, for example, ‘our wall unit could go here’ – she then told us it would look awful, why would we do that? Can’t we leave it just as it is? etc.… It was incredibly awkward and we ended up trailing round the house in stilted silence.
We have had an acrimonious divorcing couple where the wife was selling the house under sufferance – again terribly awkward and a bit upsetting as they were rather nasty to each other throughout the tour ‘these shelves have stayed up longer than his trousers ever did’ and ‘this is our daughters room, incidentally the same age as his new girlfriend’ and then started screaming at each other as we left. (they were both in attendance as he accused her of putting buyers off in the past)
After I mentioned the above to a recent estate agent – and requested an agent not a vendor - they promised that it would be fine and convinced me to view with the vendor –I did, and he was very pleasant. A bit too much so as he tried to hit on me – He was not pushy or terrible, he was just a fellow geek, we had a number of shared interests (he had collectables and posters I commented on) and he thought we would get on great so asked me out for a drink– He was nice friendly guy, really sweet - but not brilliant for a viewing.
anyone else had such fun?

One woman didn't get up off the sofa, just sat in her pyjamas as I turned up to view. Thought that was a bit odd.
Another, a lesbian couple were in bed when the EA let me and my mum in for a viewing. The two girls were shrieking when we got to the top of the stairs, and one wouldn't come out from under the covers lol.
One I viewed, the husband showed us round saying the missus usually did it, and he kept pointing out negatives lol - saying things like 'if you lift that rug, the carpet's all worn away where people's feet go, so you'll need to replace that, and other non-obvious things and problems they'd had lol. Unusual to get such an honest seller!
Erm, that's it I think. Some odd people in other houses, but I guess it's what makes the world go round

Some amusing anecdotes, but nothing to compare with the buyer 'bury dog in garden?' thread...........

Nope, the bag 'bury the dog' was totally legendary
The above viewings have happened recently and when I mentioned to the estate agent she laughed and said that was nothing - people be crazy!
Which got me thinking that there must be some corking stories out there..Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
Walked into one house. The estate agent was really nervous and we weren't sure why.
Turns out the people staying there (some very laid back musicians) had a massive house party the night before and hadn't cleaned up. Beer cans everywhere etc. Walked into one bedroom and a guy was just sitting there staring at the wall, smoking weed. Think he was having fairly bad withdrawal symptoms. We were talking in one room that we thought was empty and someone coughed from under the bed covers.
The estate agent was wearing a pinstripe suit and couldn't have looked more out of place.0 -
I worked in an EA briefly, my manager insisted I take a couple round where the sale had already been agreed, the husband had offered, the wife hadn't seen it. He'd done all the viewings previously, we didn't even have any particulars we could give out to people, when I looked round, I could see why. We couldn't even be sure how many rooms there were!
We walked in through the open back door, into a kitchen where chickens were pecking round on the floor. In one corner, hanging from the ceiling was a noose. Through into the hallway, then right into the 'lounge' where the owner was lying in a large messy bed, TV on at the foot, clutching his bottle of whisky. Purchaser said to the vendor, 'alright if we look round mate' and on we went. Another downstairs room had a full sized snooker table covered in detritus, and you had to watch where you walked because of the dog sh*t. There were many more rooms over 2 floors, full of clut (Marie Kondo would have a fit), but it did get better at the top of the house where the insurance had paid to redo the top floor where there had been a fire (vendor's wife tried to burn the place down but lit a fire at the top instead of the bottom).
I walked round in shock, the purchaser and his wife seemed OK with it, it certainly fitted the brief of a doer-upper.Make £2025 in 2025

We had a fun viewing. House owned by a lady who said she lived there with her three student sons, but quite blatantly was renting the house out and living elsewhere herself. Still haven't worked out why she didn't just tell us that. So...
She turned up at the house five minutes after us (fair enough, she could have been out and late getting home).
She knocked on the door instead of using keys and a young bloke let us in (maybe she forgot her keys?).
When we went in, there were three piles of post on the kitchen table, sorted for people with three completely different names (including surnames, but maybe her kids had different fathers).
Master bedroom still had one of her photos on the wall but there was hardly any stuff in it (maybe she'd gone overboard with the sell-your-house-declutter).
One of the bedroom doors was closed. We looked at it expectantly. She said she'd have to check with her son if it was OK for us to go inside. She opened the door a little, peered in, had a hushed conversation, then closed the door and said we couldn't go in there. :rotfl:
We didn't buy the house.0 -
Wasnt there one about a couple who turned up in a motorhome and parked it on the drive. They were there for months (including christmas i seem to remember).
And here's that one

Many years ago we viewed a flat where the owners were conducting the viewing. All went fine till we entered the (only) bedroom, whereupon we were confronted by several items of ladies' underwear strewn all over the floor. The vendors seemed completely unfazed by their existence......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
