Building a curved brick edging around my lawn

I am redoing my lawn and would like to make it look neater with a curved brick mowing strip all around the edge.
The plan is to use red brick pavers, laid side to side, soldier fashion.
I don't know whether to bed them in sand, or to use a concrete base. My feeling was to do a concrete base so they would never move, but other people say sand is fine, and it would be easier of course.
I was going to use this technique: http://www.pavingexpert.com/edging3.htm
What do you think? Any advice for a novice?

If you a complete novice avoid the concrete base you can balls that up just as much? If after using alternative you get too much movement etc its pretty easy to lift up and re do or if you then decide you want concrete base at least you’ll have bricks there and a half bit of knowledge of how to put them down and all the bits that went wrong or could have been done better after first attempt….I am redoing my lawn and would like to make it look neater with a curved brick mowing strip all around the edge.

I'd go the other way and say unless you bed them on a concrete base. you will be chasing around the garden for all time if you plan to tread/walk on them?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Ok. I've decided to do it properly.
I'm going to dig a trench, then lay a base of concrete/gravel/sand mix, and set the pavers into that. I'll haunch them at the sides so they don't move around. Shouldn't be too big a job if I hire a cement mixer.0 -
Where is a good place to buy paving?
I'm thinking B&Q because it's easy. But the problem is that most of their stock is online ordering only. I want to be able to see the full range. Is there anywhere I can do that?0
