Contact number for Civil Enforcement Ltd

Morning All,

Anyone have an office number for Civil Enforcement Ltd?

Civil Enforcement have sent an LBA but even the British Parking Association agrees that they have failed to provide the required evidence.

A letter came from a solicitor (who I _think_ was himself prosecuted last year for offences against his own clients!).

I need to contact the company this week but the number given (0115 822 5920) only gives me two options (pay now or pay in instalments). I cannot speak to a person!

Anyone have an office number for Civil Enforcement Ltd?

Regards,
Bob

Why do you want to phone them?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

  • It is now upsetting my wife and I need them to cease and desist unless they have evidence that they have so far declined to produce.

Were you to phone them (or contact them in any other way to vent your spleen) all that would do would encourage them to pursue you!

Follow the newbies FAQ thread at the top of the forum for advice on how to deal with this LBA

    NEVER ring them!

Sorry, but a phone call to 'cease and desist' will have no beneficial effect, in fact it will encourage them to pile on even more grief if they know they have your wife in a state of worry. That will give them encouragement to believe they are a step nearer to parting you from your money.

Never, ever phone a PPC - standard advice across all the forums. They will have much more experience in dealing with such calls than you will have in making them - remember this is their daytime job!

You need to deal with the LBA in writing. Use the forum search for 'CEL Letter Before Action' or 'CEL Schwartz' to view many recent cases which should start you on your way with this.

Everything from now on must be in writing - there's no formal record of phone calls - you need to have a paper trail if this gets to the court stage.

A wise person would not telephone them A wise person would ignore them unless/until they issue a court claim. Then a wise person would take them to the cleaners.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • OK I will wait for contact from them then. Raising a legal case now anyway.

I am concerned that if it came to court and they said "You didn't respond to our letter" that would be in their favour.

Is or isn't the letter you have a Letter Before Action? Do CE call it that? if so, then regardless of whether it fulfils the requirements of the BPA (and who the hell are they to cast any judgement on the matter) or the Pre-Action Conduct and Protocols of the Civil Procedure Rules (Hint: I'd go with the latter rather than the former) then you should respond to it. If the letter is woefully deficient (most CE efforts are) then tell them so and suggest that when they draft something that meets the requirements you'll respond. Don't ever ignore something that claims to be a LBA.

Have a read of this thread - Click Here - it will give you something of a clue. As with all legal letters keep it short, sweet and to the point. Don't be tempted to put in any rambling point and keep the emotion out of it too. Keep a copy and send it first class from a Post Office counter so you can ask for a free certificate of posting (and keep that too). DO NOT send it Special or Recorded Delivery as CE may well refuse to take it and proof of non-delivery is non-delivery.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

The advice you have been given is NOT to simply await further contact, (which looks like will be claim papers from Court) but just NOT to phone them.

As Quentin said, NO-ONE said to ignore them. Just never, ever phone them.

You will find examples of other people here only last week/last month with the same letter who are sending a response. Try searching the parking forum for 'CEL' and reading those threads about LBC stage.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
