krazyk - have you looked at the champdogs site? (https://www.champdogs.com).

There is a breeding forum - which can be quite "robust" in questioning motives on breeding - but once you convince them that you are genuine, there will be a lot of knowledgeable help out there.

    sheramber,

No sure, that preloved website looked like an eBay-type website. I found it a little odd that dogs were being advertised next to packaged holidays and telephones. I did see a few KC breeders on there though. I rather go through the Kennel Club, which is how I've found a local breeder myself.

Yeah, putting down a dog is very very hard indeed.

When looking for my pup I contacted the secretary of the breed club to ask for recommendations of breeders of the type pup I wanted.

In my case I was looking for a working type golden. The breeder he recommended had a litter with two pups still available. She never advertised her pups. She waited for someone to contact her and then she knew they were serious and not buying on whim. She also asked questions and did refuse to sell a pup to someone whom she found out, before the woman collected the pup, had had a pup seized by the SSPCA

My show stock one came from a friend. When i considered breeding from her I contacted a breeder of the type ( conformation, ,temperament ) of dog I liked- some of their breeding were in her pedigree- and took his advice over a stud dog. He and his wife showed and judged goldens so he had a good knowledge of the breed.

    Good luck with your search.
