Switching from HSBC to halifax

I switched to HSBC advance account last august and got their bonus and the help to save isa that gives you a £10 bonus deposit in your ISA for 12 months.

Now I wish to switch the Halifax as their rewards best match my changed spending/account management status.

Currently there is a extra £25 bonus for moving to Halifax before the 18th...

I have received 11 of my 12 ISA payments.

Other that forfeiting the last £10 (in order to get the £25 from Halifax) is there anything else that I have to give back because I'm leaving before 12 months...or anything silly like that?

Have you not got another current account you just use for secondary spends?
If you were to switch that to Halifax you will still get the £125 bonus, there is nothing then stopping you moving the HSBC once you have received everything due from them? You can switch another account into the same current at a later date.

I dont have another account sadly. I'm not too worried about loosing the £10, I just don't want to loose the other bonuses

If they've reserved the right to reclaim any bonuses already paid should you leave them (as Nationwide do with their refer-a-friend incentive) then the switching T&Cs will clearly say so. I presume you've still got a copy somewhere?

That aside, it may be possible to get your last tenner from HSBC. What are the EXACT details of the Halifax offer? Is it to complete a switch by the 18th (impossible now anyway!)?...initiate a switch by the 18th?...request a switch by the 18th, but able to request a date 3 weeks ahead? Or what?

I don't have the terms and conditions, hence the question...

It looks like as long as Halifax receive the application by 18th I'm ok.

Careful with current accounts at Halifax or indeed any bank in Lloyds Banking Group if you go overdrawn. Beyond the £10 to £50 buffer depending on the account, even a planned overdraft will set you back at least £1 per day in fees. So compare that with your existing bank before you switch.

They'll have been reproduced on here on the original thread last summer. A search will find them.

There you go then. The best of both worlds.

You can switch up to and including the 18th July, to still get the £125.

The rate will drop down on the 19th.. :-)
