Why not give people like this a 20 years to life driving ban?

I hadn't seen that case. Interesting - he at least got a jail sentence, although he only served a fraction of it. For most people, that would jeopardise their job prospects for the rest of their lives, but as the heir to a £130m business, presumably he won't be affected that way. A substantial driving ban (I'd say a lifetime ban, personally) would affect him far more, and be quite a deterrent to others who considered doing the same thing.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

If you had a firearms license and behaved recklessly with a gun its highly unlikely you would be allowed hold a firearms license again but dangerous drivers get a short ban.
