Where did I say that the OFT ruling applies in Australia? Quote and link to it if you please. Thank you.
The OP clearly mentioned that their father in law was in Australia, paying a credit card debt in Australian dollars, but you gave advice that was only relevant in the UK. You must have failed to spot that the OP was talking about Australia, by accident. Unless you actually thought that the ruling did apply in Australia?I don't live in Australia, this forum is not in Australia, I know nothing at all about Australia, the OP recognises that we are not in Australia and that the laws here are different to Australia. I discuss in terms of United Kingdom.
How do you know that the OP recognises that we are not in Australia? The web address is .com, not .co.uk. They might easily have made a mistake, just like you did, and ended up on here by accident, thinking it was an Australian forum.0 -

The lengths that some people will go to to initiate a debate even to the point of silliness amuses me rofl. Read the opening post.0 -
Well, I clearly missed the OP's statement showing that they knew this wasn't an Australian forum, but it still makes no sense for Anthorn to explain all about the OFT's ruling and how you can reclaim bank charges. The OP asked for advice, not for something that was totally irrelevant.
To be fair, the OP never was going to get any useful advice, though, unless we happen to have forum members with a good knowledge of the Australian banking system. They would have been better seeking out an Australian equivalent to MSE.0
