Grant or Loan for mature student on Access course?

Options
Morning all,

I'm 33 and about to start down the path of an Access to Higher Education course with distancelearning.co.uk.

I'm wondering if there are any loan or grant options available to me?
I'm working full time and get paid just enough above minimum wage to be ineligible for tax credits and anything else while my partner is currently not working due to being pregnant?

The overall course fee is just over £1100 so not jaw dropping but if theres any help i may be eligible for I'd really appreciate it if someone could point it out to me?

Cheers all:T

It sounds like you would be eligible for a 24+ learning loan.

They are loans from SFE and need to be paid back in the event you didn't go onto study at degree level (but if your doing an access course I'm assuming that's the plan!). If you complete higher education they are written off and do not need to be paid back.
You may also be eligible for a small bursary towards costs such as travel and equipment depending on your college/uni.

90% of people on my access course took out the 24+ loan, just be warned they charge high interest like any other loan if you did the access course and do not go in to further study.

Hey Kit, thanks for the helpful reply and apologies for the delay in responding. Thats pretty much the route I think I'm going to be taking and then on to Uni hopefully September 2017! Thanks again
