AFIK the certificate is produced automatically every Autumn provided the conditions are met - min £750 per month over previous 3 months etc. I've certainly had a new certificate every year, never had to claim it........

Another issue with the Nationwide certificate is that although it covers the next full calendar year (Jan to Dec) after it has been issued it does contain important conditions that must be kept to ensure the policy remains valid for the year!

In particular the need to keep depositing the monthly minimum throughout the policy year (not just in the year prior to getting your new certificate for the following year)

So if you a miss a payment at any time during the certificate's validity prior to wanting to make a claim the policy won't be in force

Having NEVER received a certificate for my Nationwide FlexPlus Travel insurance over the years I have just rang Nationwide on 0800 464 3041. There is NO certificate as such your policy number is your Nationwide account number so they inform me.

Your account is different to the one being discussed in this thread

They do issue certs on an annual basis for the free travel insurance provided with a flex account if you pay in at least £750/month

    From the policy: http://www.nationwide.co.uk/~/media/MainSite/documents/products/current-accounts/flexaccount/p1214-travel-cover-policy-document.pdf

Your cover will not start until you receive a Certificate of Insurance.

I think Ossie is correct - there is nothing in the Flex PLUS about certificates - you just phone.

However the original Flex Account says :-

    Flex Account Travel Insurance

You can only access benefits whilst you are a Nationwide FlexAccount holder, meeting the eligibility criteria for Travel Cover and a UK resident. More details are on page 5. Once you qualify for free travel cover we’ll send you a Travel Cover Declaration to read, complete and return to us. Your cover will not start until you receive a Certificate of Insurance.

I received a certificate from them recently

It also comes with a handy detachable credit card sized card with the useful phone numbers on it - I have written my policy number on this and have it my purse.
