Hi there
Im new to this board so think I may be posting in the wrong forum but here goes anyway. I desperately need a new pc, there are so many out there I am totally confused, dont need anything really super dooper, just your average pc will be fine. Which is the best one to get, where is the cheapest place to get them from?
I have been looking on the dell site, anyone had dealings with them?
Thanks in advance

I think this is too much of an open ended question. for example:
* What do you want to do with it?
* Do you feel you need / want an extended period of warranty?
* Are you happy / comfortable ordering one online
Dell do have some good offers and for a basic package they are fine. There are a number of Dell threads on this board and it is probably worth you having a read of them.

Thanx for the info, I had thought about one of these build to your own spec, the only thing is I am a bit computer illiterate and with the branded ones you do get an instruction manual which I have found invaluable with my old packard bell pc.0

I wouldn't consider instruction manual as a criterion when making your choice.
You've got the world's biggest user manual - the internet.
What's your budget??

I agree - only resort to manuals when really desperate - Most are written in advanced tecchie-speak. I must admit that some ererors do end up to be RTFM errors - I'll let you work it out. I think you can't beat Dell - Avoid brands whos name starts with T like the plague - Toshiba excluded!0
