Recommendation for special overnight (Scotland)

Options
We will be travelling from Lancashire to Edinburgh late October. It's our 15th WA around that time, so was thinking a night in a fab hotel would be a great stopover. Budget approx. £150 per room

Thinking castle, something quirky, not posh/fancy but more homely & really special.

Don't mind detouring a little as not time pressured.

Has anyone stayed anywhere up that way they can recommend?

Thanks

    Dalhousie Castle sounds interesting

"Set in wooded parkland, this upscale hotel occupies a castle dating to the 13th century and is 1.5 miles from the A7 and a 9.2 miles from Edinburgh city centre.

Elegant rooms, in both the main house and an annexe, feature luxe fabrics and furniture, and have flat-screen TVs and free WiFi, as well as tea and coffeemaking equipment. Some rooms have historical themes. Some suites add whirlpool tubs.

Scottish fare is served in both a relaxed orangery with river views and a more upscale restaurant in the dungeon; breakfast is included. Other amenities include a full spa and event/conference spaces. Activity options include falconry and archery."

Stobo Castle in the Borders, about an hour south of Edinburgh is a spa hotel, gorgeous food, lovely rooms and they do couples treatments which might be nice for your anniversary. Aside from spa treatments you get the pool, gym, saunas, hot tub outside, relaxation room and the gardens all for free.

If you choose Dalhousie Castle be sure to specify you want a room in the castle. The anex is a bit like a premier inn and you have to walk to the castle for food.
