Moving to PIP after DLA tribunal

I was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding moving to PIP after winning a DLA tribunal. Last year my husband won his tribunal and was awarded DLA until 2017. My husband received a letter on Friday informing him his DLA award is ending and that he needs to apply for PIP. Does the tribunal result have any impact on this or does he need to start a PIP claim?
