Hi
I use the old Microsoft Money software on my laptop to budget each month and basically enter all my income and outgoings for the month well in advance so I know where I am each month and how much money I have left. I have done this for years and find it really helpful as I check the balance with the bank online each week to keep track and make sure I never go overdrawn.
However, my laptop has died and I can't afford to replace it immediately. I will be lost without my money programme so wondered if anyone can recommend an app that I can use on my iPad?
I have been looking at some finance apps but so far have not come across anything similar in any way to Microsoft money where you can enter items in advance in order to budget. I don't need bill reminders particularly as most are paid by direct debit.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated as I seem to be getting nowhere fast in my search.
Thanks in advance. 😊

Ok, so first things first....
1) I assume you have another PC/laptop as you are asking about replacement software
2) Do you have your original MS Money disk/installation files?
3) When you say the laptop dies, do you mean the drive has crashed (unusable) or is the laptop failing to boot/run?
Simple things....if you don't have access to your original MS Money you can down load MS Money 2005 (UK) and MS Sunset Editions free of charge. See this post with links.
In my post I commented that MS Money 2005 might experience issues running under Windows 10 but I've not experienced any huge issues. It seems to occasionally have a problem closing but, this can be addressed by adding the request to back-up your file on closing and then clicking 'Don't Back Up' (although obviously back it up sometimes).
An alternative free software is GNUCash.
If your HDD is still functional you could use a HDD USB caddy to access the drive and recover/copy all your MS Money files in to your new/replacement PC/laptopPersonal Responsibility - Sad but True

Hi and thanks for your reply.
:)
The laptop is completely dead. I used it one night and it was fine, switched it off and then next morning went to use it and nothing, it has no power to it, it won't start up, nothing. I do have the original Microsoft money disc and the software has always worked fine for me with no issues but I just use it to enter my income and outgoings in advance, not much else really.
It is 3 years old so my preference would be to buy a new one rather than pay to try and repair what is now an old model, I just can't afford to do it right now with the school holidays coming up and then uniforms to buy for next year (single mum).
So I am wanting fo find an app I can use on the iPad that will allow me to budget which I normally do 2 to 3 months ahead. This is really important for me to be able to keep my head above water at times and see where I can juggle things so the kids can have treats, outings etc.0 -

Ok.... iPad, useful info.
I've just googled 'best finance app ipad uk' and LifeHacker have a list of 11 you may want to investigate. Don't know if you've already done this but it may be worth reviewing.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

I use Moneywiz 2. Bought it on promotion but now own on three platforms. It's the closest I found to Microsoft money.0

Thanks so much for the link. Yes I did Google search but came up with different links. I gave 'Toshl' a go but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. I appreciate the help all the same

Hiya, I have downloaded and tried Moneywiz 2 and it is perfect for what I wanted as I can enter all my transactions and it gives me a running balance that I can keep an eye on - just the job!
Thank you so much for the recommendation.
