New to tax credits

Hi apologies for any errors as I'm on iphone. I was looking into working tax credit and seen that on the calculator I can get roughly £150 a month from them if I and classed as disabled to them.

I have been on the web chat with hem but they are useless. Anyways it says the disability bit that you should haves disability that makes it hard to work such as deafness.

Now it says for deafness that

I can't hear phone in the same room
I have difficulty hearing someone in loud voice from 2m away
That I find it difficult to understand someone I know.

Now I can hear a phone ring but in work the rolm is big and I can't hear it from a distance away.

If someone shouts the nois just becomes a blur.

I do have to ask people to repeat them selves a lot

Now how do they asses this and do you think it worth me claiming I work full time
And age 26 with no kids. I can't get any money without the disability element

Before you get to that point, do you meet the other criteria? The hours and benefit criteria?

I work 37 hours what benefit criteria . I don't need to to claim pip it says that if you have disability that makes it hard to get a job such as deafness.

The pip is for the severe disability element

I am not referring to the severe disability element.

To qualify for the disability element you need to meet all three criteria outlined here - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/460516/TC956.pdf

As you can see condition 3 requires you to receive, or have received, a qualifying benefit.

So why is it when I do the calculator and I say no to esa that I would still get the money

That question is just asking if you receive income based benefits (as you'll see it also mentions IS/JSA). It's not about the disability element.

What does disabled for tax credits purposes mean?
Answer yes if you work at least 16 hours a week and any of the following apply to you:

you get a disability benefit, eg Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance or Personal Independence Payment
you have recently been getting disability benefit, eg Incapacity Benefit or Employment and Support Allowance
you have a disability that makes it hard for you to get a job, eg you’re deaf or blind

    Says any of these

Yes I saw that. It's incorrect, new format they are using so probably went too basic like they have done with everything else on the gov site.

It is what I have posted above.

Also confirmed here Pg19 of the claim form notes.

And here in their technical manual - https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/tax-credits-technical-manual/tctm02501

And here confirms the qualifying benefit criteria - https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/tax-credits-technical-manual/tctm02510
