    Morning everyone

HH - thanks for starting us off.

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, but very cloudy and overcast, took the basket of washing out to put on the line, and it's started to rain, so brought it all back in again. Doesn't look that promising for the rest of the day either.

DH and myself up enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day, I've also had brekkie and had a shower. Both boys still in their pits.

Arrived back from hols yesterday lunchtime, house and garden still in tact, apart from my tomato plants in the greenhouse, they looked all but dead, DS1 insists he had been watering them. I got the hose and gave them a good watering, and they have revived nicely, so hopefully I'll get a crop of tomatoes soon, although we need some sun to ripen them. Green beans are coming along a treat, loads of flowers and beans forming - whilst we've been away the weather hasn't been that great here, as everywhere is still really green and lush.

Weather whilst we were away was excellent, we only had rain once and that was at 7am on Thursday for about 20 minutes, then got out really hot and sunny. Had a really lovely time, although busy and tiring, we walked miles, but we did get everything done we had planned. I managed to get more rest - slept loads, ate some lovely food and had some lovely drink etc. I now have another week off work, but have several things to do in that time, but tomorrow will be spent trying to get the washing, drying and ironing done, I also have dentist first thing tomorrow, and I need to visit the building society.

We'll be heading out to do some food shopping shortly, DH is back to work tomorrow and DS1 is working also, but then finishes for a week's holiday on Friday - so he'll be off when I go back. I don't need loads but need fresh bits.

Lunch will be roast chicken, roasties, mash, carrots, broc, kale (for me), peas, cabbage, yorkshires and gravy.

Good luck to our sports people today - let's hope someone can win something!

Having major internet problems at the moment, all was absolutely fine when we went away, I've tried to read any emails that arrived whilst we've been away and keep getting a "server problem" message - have reported the problem, they acknowledge there is a problem, but as yet it hasn't been sorted - same old problems keep occurring that they keep telling me they've sorted!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Didn't post yesterday as I met my bestie for lunch and got back home to a houseful of DDs friends all wanting dinner! Pizzas all round :)

Well done JackieO for yesterday, Speky that's great news, Gers have a lovely time xxx

It's church parade today, so I'll be there manning a fundraising stall. Hoping to get to Aldi afterwards as the fridge is looking a bit bare, then hopefully I'll catch the last of the tennis - go Andy!!

School uniforms haven't been on so those need doing today ready for the week. Trying a new recipe from the grocery challenge list today - lemon chicken with tagliatelle. Looking forward to that.

    Have a good day all

    Hi everyone,

I've been very lax about posting lately but had to come on to say how happy I was about Speky's news.

JackieO well done and Hester I think you deserve a medal.

We're in Yorkshire but the weather isn't being very kind to us although we managed a good walk last night at Bolton Abbey. We find the evenings are very often good up here even if it's horrible during the day. I'm going to be tucked up most of today watching the Grand Prix and the tennis, although they clash for part of the time.

I'm still losing weight slowly, although I ate lots yesterday - I've got used to eating around 1,000 calories a day, which is less than recommended but with my underactive thyroid is the only way I can lose 1lb a week.

We've booked all our travel and accommodation for DS' wedding in Italy. We are driving down although that was in doubt for a while as they have decided to do the legal bit over here and were talking about having it done just before going to Italy. I said if they did that we would fly down and wouldn't be able to take the dress and decorated candle jars etc. so they have gone for the Saturday before.

Anyway the result is that I am trying to be extra frugal so that we can afford the trip, the cost of the wedding and a replacement roof on the Yorkshire house - all in September. It will nearly wipe out our accessible savings but I'm determined never to go into debt again.

    Have a good day.
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one.

Usual Sunday breakfast in bed, OH has just got up, I will be following shortly. Bright morning, forecast for tomorrow is dire so I will put the washer on with a mixed load.

Chicken for supper tonight, with all the trimmings and some sort of fruit crumble for dessert.

Made another zipper bag yesterday, followed the instructions I had types out. Makes sense to me, just hope they make sense to the group. I have perfected a way of sewing the lining and the zip in at the same time, you baste the zip in and the pin the lining, works great, saves you stitching twice. I want to experiment with a pencil type bag for children to keep bits in, watch this space.

Right off to get this body dressed and the washer on.......

Hester, I admire your energy, I had 4 children, but a big gap of 8 years between the eldest two. No way could I cope with 4 now, you deserve a medal.

    Morning all,

Raining here ! I was going to strip the beds and get them washed and dried and back on but think I will leave it till tomorrow now and hope that the weather is a bit better.

We are meant to be going to my sisters later for BBQ but I think we will have to eat inside now, I need to take a pudding with me, so will dive in the shop quickly on the way. My cousin will be there who is visiting from AUS I have not seen him for about 30 years  so it will be nice to get together.

Need to pop into work quickly this morning as there has been a small problem but that wont take me long, the house needs a good clean too.

We have been seeing the odd ant in the kitchen for a while now and have put some powder down, yesterday morning there were about 100 dead ones in front of the fridge, so OH pulled it out to find a massive ants nest we disturbed it and OH hoovered them up, there were millions of them _pale_
we burnt the hoover bag and went out and bought more poison and a bait thing, I need to pull the fridge out again and bleach the area. It made me feel horrible at itchy, its war now !!

Specky such good news re your girlfriend xx

    Have good days all xx

Ants are nasty bite thongs redruby, I disturbed a nest in a big planter and they were so quick, they bit any bit of me they could reach, which was most of me.

I am making chicken with lemon, garlic and parsley this evening.

Have not actually done any ironing yet. No motivation, I must.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

RedRuby, peppermint oil is fabulous for keeping ants out of the house, they hate the stuff so a few drops near where you think they are coming in should do the trick.

    Afternoon all

The children have been returned to their mum, she phoned at 10 but I told her to grab another couple of hours sleep and I'd take them home at 2 o'clock.

I had intended to keep them until 4 but DS phoned and asked me if I could check on his cats as he and DIL have gone away for the weekend, the cats have food but he was worried they would be lonely.

Being cats I don't think they would care, but I went over and made a fuss of them both.

I'm now home and shall make myself some lunch before I do some housework, I stripped the beds when we got up but they need remaking I've washed most of the bedding but have another load to do.

The kids helped me tidy up before they left but the floors need vacuuming and steaming, especially the kitchen floor it's like a skating rink because of the oil in the play doh we made.

    Hugs Hester

...The new bilberry season will be upon us any time so almost time to start picking again!

Oh that takes me back - when I was a child in the early 1970's we used to pick bilberries on the hills near our home in Saddleworth, and also on the hill by the M62 above Scammonden reservoir ;)

Until you can get some peppermint oil I used to use ordinary talcum powder I think its the smell that detracts them Horrible things I don't mind in the garden but I don't like anything with more than two legs in my house :):)
Had a nice afternoon at son-in-laws birthday bash ate far too much, but it means I don't need to do anything tonight to eat.
A nice quiet night with my feet up is on the menu for tonight I'll probably even have an early night and maybe have a read
    Cheers chums
    JackieO xx
