Repaying Tax Credit Overpayment

My partner and I both received letters in December 2005 stating that we had been overpaid and would have to call them to arrange to repay the stated amounts.
After trying to contact themfor over a month I eventually spoke to them and agreed payment plans for both of us (we were not living together in 2003/2004 so seperate claims). This was probably the middle of January 2005.
They agreed for us to make an initial payment for both overpayments using the paying in slips that were part of the letter and changing the amounts on them, and then they would send me the forms to set up direct debits to clear the rest of the overpayment over a period of six months.
I duly made the agreed payments at the post office and have heard nothing from them since regarding setting up the direct debits! It is now four months since I agreed the payment plan with them.
Has anyone else had this problem? I can't beleive that I have done my bit and not quibbled over the amount and they haven't managed to sort it out at their end. Presumably they will realise this at some point and start chasing us for the money that we have already agreed to pay.
No doubt they will be asking for us to pay back more money for the year 2003/2004 by then too!

They haven't even tried to claim mine back and its just sitting there waiting. They have finally stopped paying it but I had been receiving payments I was not entitled to. Hopefully they'll get round to me soon.0

As you say you've made every effort to sort this out. Set aside the money you owe into a high interest account, so that when you do have to pay them back you have the cash to hand and you've earned interest in the meantime.0
