  • Picked and immediately ate a few Blackberries, on my lunch break today.

They grow wild on my company's land, and, although we don't get a massive crop, there's usually a decent amount.

Maybe it's down to the sun we've had, but they were very sweet tasting.

It's just a combination of rare elements coming together to create something that isn't even on the radar yet.

My two 'fears' are fuel and inflation. (Especially with income due to reduce in a couple of years when I address my work life balance into a life work balance)

We've had a variety of cold callers in this area trying to persuade households to switch suppliers: invariably when there's a push like that there are price rises in the pipeline.

I'm currently on a rolling contract for both electricity & phone/fibre and have no inclination to change to a fixed term contract.

As I've posted previously, I view stores, be it oil, wood, coal or food, as money in the bank.

I'm also seriously considering upgrading old double glazing to new frames/triple glazing.

I'm waiting on a quote and if I go for it there'll be no galivanting hollibobs this year.

On t'other hand, if I don't, in a couple of years it mightn't be affordable.

Is anyone getting phonecalls from a company offering Green Deal improvements?

I get two or three of these a day from spoof phone numbers, and it's driving me up the wall. I guess their real phone number is on a register somewhere that is barred from bothering people.

I feel like unplugging my landline, but can't use a mobile due to headaches. Any thoughts?

wish I had an answer for you as I did end up unplugging my landline as it was getting too silly. I tried to report them as nuisance calls but it made no difference :(

I get few calls on my landline and any unidentified numbers on my mobile get ignored - and then i check the number on a 'who called me' site. I think you can call a number to get rid of spam calls can't you?

My preps for winter / B****t / zombie apocalypse are to sort out my stores with a view to building them up again. I think an inventory might be called for. I definitely need to address the water - my stored (though unopened) bottles are five years old  I may also be getting low on loo roll

The freezer kind of needs running down a bit so i can see what i need to build it up with IYSWIM. I will concentrate on the ingredients to make things rather than the things themselves, if that makes sense.

I am only growing beans this year - though have had some fruit too. I may plant some winter stuff - leeks, sprouts spring to mind but haven't investigated yet... lack of water won't help i guess..

Does anyone know if there!!!8217;s any way other than freezing, to store fruits like berries? I!!!8217;m seriously considering a dehydrator to build up some fruit stores. But I!!!8217;d love some other ideas.
I keep meaning to make rosehip syrup each year but my FIL says you should wait until after the first frost but we very rarely get frost - any suggestions?
Nobody in my house eat blackberries but they!!!8217;re bountiful so i make jam and add them to cakes lol
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

Jam itself is a great prep chirpy. I bet they didn't half miss it in wartime when they had none.
