  • Well, along with Mar and the rest of you I'm all Brexited out, the extreme feelings it engenders in almost half the population are their problem and not mine as of this morning, I'm a prepper by nature and I think that probably means I just don't see why there is so much high temper heat over something that is neither my fault and about which I can do nothing. I'm a person who will always try to make good what I find in my life at any given point, all the wailing and blaming and aggressive rudeness is just wasting valuable time that a) I'll never get back and b) it could be used for prepping which is far more use in my future. Those who wish to wail and gnash teeth are welcome to carry on doing it and me? I'm going to carry on prepping as normal and then whatever happens I'll be in a position to make informed choices when problems crop up and find the best course of action for us.

    Morning People,
Well having thrown my toys out of my cot, screamed , shouted, stamped my little feet and gone off in high dudgeon and a taxi I'm back again.
Apologies for yesterday. I'm NEVER going on the B thread again, and that's a promise.
I've quite enough to have temper tantrums about here, never mind going out looking for things.
So thank you all for putting up with me.

On the prepping front I spent a spent a happy day yesterday making bramble and apple compote. It will be lovely on my muesli or on my yogurt in the depths of winter. Plus seiving out the bramble seeds is a much better way of releasing aggression than writing rude things on daft threads.

Apologies again to anyone I offended yesterday. Today a lady is coming to spin with me and I need to make flapjacks and bread so will catch up later.

Morning folks, the sun has returned today, so will be washing in earnest and trying not to iron! :rotfl:

I'm steering clear of most stuff Brexit-related, as it's all getting rather boring now - if anyone can point me in the direction of "proper" reading matter, fine, otherwise I'm just saving money, upping my preps, and stashing wool for the [STRIKE]guillotines[/STRIKE] crocheting of blankets... :D:D

I've been looking for metal storage tins for various things, and came across a site that sells loads of them brand new - I'm in heaven!! :rotfl:

I'm also going to post in my local frreecycle page to ask for any clean wood, even little bits, to add to my wood stash for the stove - the less I have to buy, the better. Net week, when the woods around here have dried out again, we'll go chumping, as we've had some high winds so there might be some decent stuff lying around.

GQ, just been checking prices of tinned veg after what you said (not bought for a while) - what a shock that was!! Tinned tuna's also shot back up again, even basic stuff.

I'm helping a friend out at a food festival this week, for which she's paying me - only a few quid, but it will be the first money I've earned in over 5 years!! All going into the cash-under-the-bed pot, for emergency use only. :rotfl:

I'm following two sensible ladies out of there. Ah cannat be doing with defending my decision not to add salt and butter to my breakfast for my the good my heart issues after writing about my plan for reducing choice at breakfast so we can prepare mentally for if there's reduced choice, and I can plough the finances into stocking all-rounder basic food stuffs. Those that are poised to argue anything and everything can play amongst themselves.

Anyway I have my own strop to carry out - my horsetail didn't wither all weakly about the surface! I actually have it on my list to research as it's supposed to be a very useful herb but you know when you [STRIKE]divvint like[/STRIKE] detest summat? It's difficult to engage appreciation.

Ditto, fuddle, why do folk have to comment at all on such small things? I mean, I know it's not small to YOUR health, but there are more important things to ponder on. As my mam used to say, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all! :heartsmil

Compote is good. Spinning is good, also fascinating :j As for sieving, hmmm, I might give that a miss, and just let it all drip, when it comes time :)

I can count on the fingers of one hand how little I've engaged in online discussion. And even though I've done so little, its gone really badly about 40% of the time, so now I simply don't do it.

Blankets :D If it was rugs, you'd *need* a guillotine, wouldn't you :rotfl:

Could you share the name, cheapskate? I'm not in the market *right* now, but in considering storage solutions, it's a useful thing to know.

My shelves are looking a lot healthier since my supermarket delivery yesterday - enormous jars of olives in brine, and pickled beetroot :o I'll stack them at the back of the bookshelves, but my sister's popping over today, I can't do it before then.

    Karmacat, https://www.paint-tin.co.uk/shopping_cart/index.php. HTH :D

Re crochet blankets/rugs, it might give others too many ideas if I billed them as rugs similar to the guillotine-sized ones... :rotfl::rotfl:

Please all keep posting. I prep in a small way that suits me. Not really well enough to advise anyone but very grateful for all the tips. Very glad I haven't even clicked on the Brexit thread. For what it is worth I work in international freight and our clients are pretty positive about it all. Don't shoot me down!
  • Thanks JULIETETTE that's the kind of information that ought to be out in the public domain for everyone to take on board, bless you!
