My great grandfather died in 1913. He was an agricultural worker and the family had to leave their tied cottage. My great grandmother got some work on the land but they were very hard up-the sons also trapped wild birds and collected their eggs for food.
Even when he was very old my grandfather was determined he would never go into the local hospital-it had been the workhouse in his childhood. All his life he never wasted a thing-he'd eat cold cooked veg for supper , they'd cut down old clothes to make children's clothes or aprons, even our old pram was used-with a net over the top- to transport piglets around the farm.0 -

Saw a tin labelled "emergency candle" - opened it & there were 7 candles with a candle holder in the lid which could be tucked into the tin. A very good idea, if you wedge the bottom of the tin so it can't tip, I thought. Nowhere for matches, or a lighter, though but handily labelled.
Onwards with preparations for visiting family. Frankly Everest is probaly simpler as they have package tours.0 -
I have had my eyes opened about site tracking. Amost every single site is tracking me and the tracking blocked sign comes up on the tool bar. I am shocked, rightmove, banks, newspapers, lakeland are only a few. What the heck happened to privacy0

Evening all. I'm sure most of you remember when cleaning materials came in cardboard:
eg: Flash powder, Vim, washing powder etc.
I can't even find a non smelly washing powder for wool items. Seems everything is stubbornly liquid and comes in plastic bottles. Any thoughts?0 -
Is it just me, or do you also find the evening readings to be consistently lower than the morning readings?0

Yeah Bob. I'm medicated at the moment but usually my morning readings start to increase as the day goes on and peaks lunch time, dropping again as I chill out of an evening. I believe BP begins to rise a few hours before waking but as I'm asleep I can't say I've noticed.
I've put my machine away now Bob. My BP rises and falls with eating, dealing with kids etc. I was becoming paranoid which was increasing my BP. It's in the drawer. I'm aiming for once a week now.
Er, my name is fuddle and I'm addicted to my BP readings.:o0 -
When I was testing mine Bob, the morning readings were low and the rest of the time they were high. I dono if it means anything and I got fedup testing anyway
My pulse is always over 100 in the mornings, no wonder I feel wobbly.0 -
