Unbelievable but all that panic on Oxford Street yesterday seems to have been about nothing. The tube station ‘self evacuated ‘ and once one group of people started running others did.
According to a news report this morning, there was a fight between several men on a platform and there was an announcement asking people to leave the station but not saying why.
People jumped to conclusions that it was a terrorist attack and the panic spread as they poured out onto the streets.0 -
Apart from anything else, the last thing I'd do in that sort of situation is start screaming my head off and running full pelt (even if I could!) down the street. My instinct would be to melt into the shadows and quietly leg it from there.
Maybe that's because I've spent a lifetime living in the country and the only mass panic I've experienced is in cows and sheep0 -
They thought it was another truck attack so the safest thing was to get off the street. So she dived into a shop in Regent Street with a lot of other people. But it seems some of the shops in Oxford Street chucked people out - which seems crazy if it had been a gunman or truck driver.
If she knew London as well as I do she would have dodged down a side street and been able to get away from the area. I hate dodging slow walkers so I always cut through the side streetsIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
I'm not sure about the 'run screaming in hysterics' thing either. My instinct when alarmed is to shut up and step back. of course all the horror films show hysterical crowds running from Towering Inferno or March of the Zombies.
Old wartime news clips show people shutting up and putting up, while quietly vowing vengeance. (And voting in a new government ASAP) After 7/7 DS walked 7 miles home from central London, and commented afterwards how silent the streets were, filled with others also walking home.0 -
Buggalugs has been looking a bit dishevelled recently, with the white patches in her fur looking far from white.
I decided that, if she won't keep herself spotless, I'd have to do it for her.
Having not being born with a suitable tongue, my only option was a shower, so I bought a bottle of pet shampoo, and off we went.
Have to say, she didn't struggle as much as I thought she would.
Here's a picture of Buggalugs, doing her impression of a drowned rat.0 -
Wow, the famous Buggalugs makes her online debut - tell ya, if looks could kill, BB would be toast, she looks extremely cross just then. :rotfl:

BSB, not wanting to alarm you, but a degree of gingery miscolouration can apparently be caused by them not absorbing all they should from their food as they get older. Our much-loved ex-feral friend was almost completely black when she first turned up, but by the time she was ready to "go" four years later, she was gingery-brown everywhere except her head. However - it could just as easily be dirt!Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Ooooh....she's definitely giving you the Evil Eye.:rotfl:
You do know you are going to have to "work hard" now to get back in good books - eg chicken for dinner.:)0 -

It pretty much washed out, so I'm not overly worried.
Besides, at over 18-years-old, I know she can't have a whole lot of time left to her.
She's already lost quite a bit of the kitten-like spring from her step.0
