Daz the onus is with the management, always. It was my job to ensure that carers training didn't lapse, not the carers. CQC would have a field day with that management technique. They must (they're required) to have dated training details so it isn't for you to remind them. They have no scope for disciplining you for not doing management's job for them.
Moving and handling training every 2 years isn't suffiecient. HSE recommend that health and safety training be refreshed at least annually. It's a fast paced, ever changing environment. in your back to work interview I would suggest more frequent (annual) moving and handling refresher training. Get that documented (and in your own paperwork) and they will be hard pushed to have a leg to stand on (pardon the pun)
It's just worth keeping in mind if you need to use it really. I'm cross and it's one if the reasons why I came out of the care sector. It's flawed and regulations can be flouted to the point of blaming carers for inadequate management. Caring is a highly pressured and skilled job that anyone can walk into because the pay and rights are minimal. I no longer want to be part of it or the fall guy when other management team members aren't up to the job.

I agree about up to date and frequent moving and handling training. But in the end, just having too much heavy work to do will cause serious problems. Often you won't know it was too much until it's too late. And if you inform your manager it may a case of 'Cant you do the job? Someone else can' very difficult situation. Best wishes Daz0

Extremely worrying is D.Trumps back pedalling tweet and news conference where he has yet again tried to blame both sides equally for Charlottsville. There has been so much progress made in this world against racism and promoting equality regardless of skin colour, nationality and religion this feels like an attempt to step back to the days gone by when the colour of your skin was what defined your place in society IT'S SO WRONG it's the person you are inside that matters none of the rest!0

I think the American late night standup comics have it right on Trump, Mrs LW - The Guardian is doing some great articles online. I get confused with Trump though: he's obviously alt-alt-alt right, as well as psychotic to boot, though for the point I'm trying to make thats neither here nor there, oh, maybe it is. Well, the thing is, his son in law, Jared Kushner, he's Jewish and (modern) Orthodox at that - and he's well in with Trump and the White House, not a reviled extra. How come? Prejudiced people usually include Jews and Judaism in their prejudices. I know that sounds a weird thing to say, sorry all, it's just something I don't understand, and I don't see any opinion pieces anywhere about it.
Though truly, I stand back from emotional involvement with the news. I have so little physical/emotional energy, I can't afford to use it on that. I keep an eye on stuff, but I don't let myself get attached to it. If Trump ends up causing Armageddon, which he might well do, I'll be ready ... of course, this means that there's an absolute volcano of unexpressed rage just underneath my surface :rotfl: but I'm playing :cool::cool: and pretending its not there, for the sake of my *own* sanity.

I don't understand any of it! it's almost like two small boys shouting 'My dad's bigger than your dad' between the USA and North Korea, a game of 'dare' BUT it's NOT a 'game' it's peoples lives, the poor planet and all the living things on it, the billions of humans who are just 'everyday', living decent lives and doing the best they can with what they have are at risk from two deluded egotists who don't know right from wrong, only wanting to be the 'biggest and most successful' in their own eyes and damn the rest of the universe. That old saying 'power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely' really has meaning in 2017.0

I wish we could go back to the days when the clan chief or whoever got out there in front of the army and went head to head with the clan chief of the other side. I always had a brilliant mental picture of David Cameron and Vlad Putin squaring up... :rotfl::rotfl:0

Bring back the Oubliette is what I say and drop the whole damned lot of them down it and see how brave they are when there is no way out but face what you have set in motion! I bet they wouldn't be feeling quite so loud mouthed brave then!0

I may be wrong but I think some of the more extreme Biblical prophesies talk about the role of the Jews in the Apocalypse and that is why the far right who believe in those prophecies are OK with them when they seem to intensely dislike all the rest of their fellow men and womenIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Oh! Maryb, I *do* remember that now you mention it ... very, very weird for that to be a real thing
I like Mar's take on it best of all - can you imagine Trump and Putin squaring up to one another :rotfl:Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Kim and Trump....a little fat yellow kid with a dodgy haircut versus a big fat orange kid with a dodgy haircut. To think the future of our world could be in their hands! One life - your life - live it!0
