I have a couple of spindly spiders that live behind my downstairs loo. I try not to kill them when I'm cleaning, as they seem to control the silverfish population.
Silverfish really creep me out.0 -
A cousin has a strong dislike of spiders. She raised her offspring to apply the cup & paper removal technique.
There was a knocking on my door one day when one of the offspring, clutching a jamjar, asked for sanctuary for himself & his pet.
We compromised. He spent the night playing dice, figures & Huge table games with my lot & after breakfast, I apologised, but his pet had met a friend & eloped. (Insert speechmarks there to guess at what had actually happened.)

A small tip which I have discovered today as I embraced my inner Viking...UK crisp breads are indifferent in many ways straight from the packet, some are not a lot different to the cardboard they are packed in BUT today I got a Scandinavian Cookery Book for the princely sum of 20p from the boot fair and there is a whole section on open sandwiches made with a crisp bread base AND the suggestion that you TOAST the crisp bread before topping it! Radical methinks so with our soup for lunch I heated up the grill (not the toaster) and popped some of the poor (admittedly cheap) dusty, pallid little crisp breads under the grill and waited until they smelled 'warm' then turned them over and did the same for the other side. OH MY WORD what a difference, the chewy cardboard laced with dust turned into the crispest, lightest and most deliciously nutty baked thing I've had in ages. I always keep a stock of crisp breads in my Armageddon cupboard as they last forever and are still good for many months after the best before date and knowing how they respond to toasting I'll never ever discard any again, discovery of the year so far!!!0
