Yes, expecting to be fishing up to Friday, with luck, but winds rising already with heavy rain. Getting colder too!!! Eldest supposed to be driving over on Christmas eve, but we'll see.
Stay safe up on your hill :-)0 -
Greetings to anyone else on here who celebrates today rather than later in the month.
May you find peace and contentment.A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but with luck it'll annoy enough people to make the effort worthwhile.0 -
Anybody in north or west Scotland - forecast is awful.
Travellers embarking on the great Christmas getaway have been warned to prepare for disruption as Storm Barbara approaches Scotland.
Around 100 offshore workers may not get home for Christmas due to weather west of Shetland, BP has warned.
Ferries have also been cancelled as winds pick up on the west coast.
The full effect of the storm is expected to be felt on Friday and Saturday, when gusts of up to 90mph are forecast in the north and west.
Gusts of up to 70mph are also expected on Christmas Day, forecasters warned.
An amber "be prepared" warning is in force from 12:00 on Friday to 06:00 on Christmas Eve.
It said strong winds in the north west could cause structural damage, as well as disruption to power supplies and travel.
A yellow "be aware" warning for wind is also in place on Wednesday, Thursday and on Christmas Day.0 -
Getting interesting up here - decided not to travel to Islay yesterday and very glad I did - the boat was diverted en route, and didn't arrive until lunchtime, and the afternoon boat was cancelled. It's getting windier, with hail showers that are quite heavy. We're hoping Friday will be the worst for us, but if not I can see us cooking christmas dinner over the fire :-)
Stay safe everyone0 -
Hope you both stay safe Mar and Westcoast, will be thinking of you from further south.Anchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.

Seconding smeeth; take good care of yourselves up there. We've had some sudden, cold, heavy showers today; it's really unseasonably warm outside of those. The fire's not lit and the heating hasn't come on; that means it's 18℃ in our drafty hallway with no help at all. A bit weird... and a nightmare for getting washing dry.Angie - GC May 24 £50.58/£450: 2024 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 10/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

It's 3C here and sleety showers, windy but not dire. BBC forecast gives us high winds from tomorrow morning until Monday. Got enough food but going to run short of bread and eggs, although I have bread mixes in the cupboard. Wish it would snow like hell instead lol
EDITED to make sense0
