Watched this with the kids tonight was really bright here for some reason.
There's an even brighter one this evening (Mag 2.6 - also decent elevation), but we're forecast for cloud here.
Next bright one (Mag 2.2 - excellent elevation), with predicted clear sky, is tomorrow evening.0 -
Whereabouts roughly? I've Scouts...
Waving to Captain Tim not being an option, just spotting his old flat will do. Just Lancashire has not got much luck with weather.
Intrigued to hear Sikh temples have kitchens where communal food for believer & unbeliever, prince & pauper alike are fed alike. Racking my brains as to where I can find a Sikh to coax to come out & meet a bunch of curious scouts. Food optional, but always helpful! (I know, Diwali is coming (always a good opportunity to stock up on tealights), but there's something going on this week, too.)0 -

It'll obviously vary a tad, depending on whereabouts you are in Lancashire, but the following are the details from my location, and should be pretty close, as I'm also in Lancashire.
Tonight:-
Magnitude: 2.6
Start time: 18:58:48
End Time: 19:04:47
Duration: 5m59s
Start Direction: SW (224 degrees)
End Direction: E (092 degrees)
Start Elevation: 10 degrees
Maximum Elevation: 33 degrees
Predicted Weather: Cloudy
Tomorrow Night:-
Magnitude: 2.2
Start time: 19:42:41
End Time: 19:47:49
Duration: 5m8s
Start Direction: WSW (250 degrees)
End Direction: E (099 degrees)
Start Elevation: 10 degrees
Maximum Elevation: 56 degrees
Predicted Weather: Clear
There's a second one each night, but they're only Mag 0.4 and Mag 0.7 respectively.0 -

It's being able to spot one scout unlacing another's trainer & making away with it that has shot up my risk assessments recently.
And that conkers in the protective layer have sharp points, so a failure to wear gloves can lead to small puncture wounds & the suggestion to parents that an anti-tetanus shot may be in order. A scout hearing the penalty can include injections gets Wondrous Ingenious...0 -

True, but you won't be able to see the ISS, if it's cloudy.
Although, currently it's clear skies and sunshine, so there's a chance the forecast is wrong.0 -
Catching up on my blog reading, I came upon this interesting article - it's American, but very useful and translatable to the UK - there are some interesting links at the bottom of the article. It's a really good blog, and a really beautiful online store
Have never purchased anything because of import customs duty, but have been sorely tempted - they have lovely jigsaws and books too!

I recall when home-schooling we visited St Mungo's in Glasgow with the local primary school - they have arranged a visit to a Sikh Temple for us, it was a wonderful experience for the us and the kids. Do you have anywhere similar that might be able to point you in the right direction locally?

Oh WCS I love Lehmans site, that's the one the Amish all use for their cooking stoves I think.0
