Your "OS" thought of the day :)

Lighthearted thread..

mine today is how people spend too much time engrossed in technology. It's everywhere ALL of the time!!!!

I've been going sitting under my favourite tree recently and just stopping to be... listen to the birds, no music or phone etc. I'm a closet hippy really!!:rotfl:Myself and a friend had a picnic the other day under a tree

I forgot how much I recharge doing this so it's going to become a regular habit :o.

I'm aiming for more "OS" style entertainment - playing simple cards makes me very happy and trying to play more board games. Candy Crush is great but i have to draw the line :rotfl:

Would you like to share your OS thought of the day?:A

  • Okay, I'll start.
I was at a U3A meeting yesterday - our monthly branch meeting. The July meeting is always a 'home-grown' affair entertainment wise - the ukelele group played, there were some funny poems read about about aging disgracefully etc. etc.
As usual, the tea/coffee team were prepping refreshments with the special addition this month of scones and jam.
I was reminded of the scenes in 'Housewife 49' where the ladies prepared tea in the village hall kitchen.
They all called each other Mrs.+ the surname. It seemed so quaint, respectful, delightfully old-fashioned.
Could we pinpoint those years as the time when courtesy and respect started to die out in modern society?
(Golly, that's a heavy question for a lighthearted thread, but you know what I mean, I hope!!!)

I watched DH handle the rental business today...and I liked it. This is something I normally do. Am I reverting to my pre-feminist days? :p

I have just been for a walk round the block with OH. A lovely warm evening with a breeze.

There was a time i'd have been getting ready for a club, and now i'm thinking about getting ready for bed :p. But i prefer it this way...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I went to a `warehouse sale` at Abakhan fabrics this morning. I`d never been to one before, despite being a pretty regular shopper there lately on `normal` days, where you can browse slowly....
It reminded me of the old Jumble Sales of my youth. Loads of big boxes of stuff, women riffling through the contents and pulling out one end of something, someone else pulling the other end of it....
As I recall, folks weren`t that polite back in the old jumblesale days. At least when one lady nearly fell into a box today by overstretching, a couple of others helped her out!

Zippy, you reminded me off a t-shirt my daughter bought Internet killed the television, it made me laugh when I saw it !!.

She's only 18 but I remember when it was long walks etc. The Internet has taken over in our house I think.

Think we need to take more walks at the estate near us and bicycle rides like we used to or they can as I'm in a lot of pain now cycling.

I have a to-do list as long as several arms but felt so tired this afternoon that I made a cup of tea and sat down with my knitting. I found an old black and white Peter Sellars film on TV. Utter bliss, two or three hours sitting in my rocking chair, watching an old film, knitting peacefully and stopping occasionally for a sip of tea.

OK, I am a granny, but I felt like MY granny. Lovely!

Had old friends round for dinner. Not physically seen them for two years. :(
We bought the pizza, they brought wine picked up where we left off.
No tidying up necessary - those kind of friends.
    Comfortable like old slippers :)

Just left our house but know they will never leave us :)
Not dim ;) .....just living in soft focus :p
