I have got few tops and crop bottoms from primark, they are comfortable and wash well.No different to more expensive makes. Also peacock sports wear is good.0

I have been pleased with Sainsburys sports wear, and they change their designs frequently. They wash well and keep their shape.0

Thanks to everyone who's made suggestions so far. I'd be interested to hear if anyone's tried UnderArmour which I hear is supposed to be a brand especially good at sweat-wicking. I seem to have this problem much more now than when I was new to the gym irritatingly and it does make me feel self-conscious and uncomfortable (mentally and physically as it were) so looking out for that feature is I suppose more important than design to me.0

I have various bit ranging from primarni to adidas and Nike- one thing I would spend the money on though is a supportive sports bra- I have the shock absorber ones now which are fantastic, but have bought cheaper in the past and they have been rubbish. The shock absorber ones are usually on offer in sports direct/ sports world or whatever it's called now. Leggings I prefer the ones from 'my protein' , h and m or my plain black Nike ones. Tops from anywhere really.
Hope you find something nice to wear.Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -
Thanks, agree Shock Absorber rock... I accidentally went to the gym once without having switched from the one I was wearing under my work clothes and the difference was so obvious. And painful0

I'm also in Sweaty Betty. I'd wear Lululemon if I could afford it but it's waaay above my budget and I take some of the free classes at S/B and think I've totally been sold on the marketing- I shop more there since doing the classes but they are well run and for free
I think what you wear in the gym can really make a difference. If you dress to feel happy or happier with how you feel you look it helps boost your confidence and you may find the following exercise is easier or you just use more power and get further or better results.
If I weren't in Sweaty Betty I'd be wearing Adidas. I used to shop at Nike in the sale but found they don't really fit me as well as Adidas. I'm 5'7" but Nike seem to need me to be 5'5" or shorter. I think you really need to try things on first though to see how they feel when they're worn.
If you are shopping at Sports Direct, I'm not sure if you were aware but much of the things sold there may not be made by Nike/Adidas etc. What happens (and this was reported on a BBC expos! documentary a few years ago) is that brands like Nike/Adidas/Reebox...etc will sell off their designs to be made by other companies who buy the rights to make the items but are able to choose cheaper fabrics and cheaper methods but can still carry the branded label. It means sweat-wicking isn't always genuinely sweat wicking and that in some cases items can fall apart or shrink in the wash where you'd not find this if you'd bought the items made by the brand in question.
As the saying goes; buy cheap pay twice.0 -

I did try on a couple of shock absorber bras in Debenhams but didn't find them true to size.
I have a lot of sports bras from M&S.0 -
My favourite clothing items are my Berlei running bra (like a normal underwired bra but very little movement), and my New Balance 'Accelerate' capris. Very comfortable with a nice soft drawstring, and they stay up!0

I would second what others have said above re H&M, TK Maxx etc, and I would also recommend forever 21! there's a shop in London but you can obviously order online too. They've got load of stuff and its all quite cheap! Most of my stuff is from H&M, but I got a couple of things from them the other week and they're now my fave things to wear to the gym. I prefer leggings to train in, but they need to pass the squat test to make sure they don't go see through!I'm usually using a phone, so excuse my spelling please!0

I wear Under Armour t-shirts and they're excellent for not getting sweaty and sticky. Mine are very boring to look at, but I don't care about that :-). I've had the same few t-shirts for about three years now, and they're still fine, so they last well too.
Adidas leggings for me - again, not fancy to look at but also great for sweat wicking and I find they fit nicely and stay up0
